An expensive morning and the importance of strength training.

I signed up for two races yesterday morning! Anybody else get giddy after signing up for races???

The
Rehoboth Beach Half Marathon is in just a few weeks and a bunch of my work buddies are running it. πŸ™‚

The
Across the Bay 10k doesn’t take place until next November, but it should be really fun and Dave McGillivray, Boston Marathon Race Director, is in charge of the race. You should sign up and join me!

Since I ran 10 miles on Monday afternoon, I took a running rest day and headed to body pump class. Before the government shutdown, I was taking body pump once or twice a week every week. I fell out of the habit and yesterday was my first class in quite sometime. My inner thighs are so sore today!

Many articles, including this one from Runner’s World, stress the importance of strength training for runners. Personally, I feel stronger and able to do more (go a little faster or a little farther) when my muscles have gotten the proper strength workout. πŸ™‚

After work, I headed to my parent’s house to get Annabelle. She got the second part of her flu shot yesterday, but she barely even cried. We ate salads for dinner…

(I know you can only see cheese and chicken, but it also had broccoli, red onion, sunflower seeds, and dried cranberries.)

And then I fell off the “no ice cream for a week” wagon.

It was worth every bite.

My mom and I did not plan this. We are both wearing Drifter sweaters from Lands End but her sweater is about 10 years older than mine. πŸ™‚
