Memorial Day 2014

I had an emotionally and physically draining weekend, but Annabelle, Poppy, and Mommy had a great holiday yesterday.

After hanging out and doing housework in the morning, Annabelle and I headed to the trail for a run. I didn’t take her out in the jogging stroller during my marathon training (afraid I would hurt something by running different), so it’s nice to be doing it again. However, my knee is still giving me some pain so I ended up doing 8 miles of a run/walk. It is what it is and Annabelle and I enjoyed each other’s company for that hour and a half.

Once dinner rolled around, my dad fired up the grill and we had burgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, and pop chips. Yumm!

Dessert? Why of course I had dessert! I ate a s’mores bar topped with my cool whip/pudding mixture. It was perfect. 🙂

I went to bed counting my blessings and thanking those who have served to protect our country.

Favorite burger? Beef, turkey, or veggie?

If you have a jogging stroller, do you like using it? What kind do you have?

  1. I’m a fan of turkey burgers when I want to be ‘healthy’, but an Abbey Burger Bistro beef burger on a pretzel roll (loaded with a bunch of other toppings) is always good!

  2. dawn @ running the dawn says:

i’m a veggie burger kind of gal 🙂

i have the exact one that you do. and i would say that i have a love/hate relationship with it. i really do love taking my little guy with me and i love the time we get to spend together, but i feel like he’s in a really squirmy/impatient stage (15 months) where it’s hard for him to last for very long. he does better when i go to the trails with lots of dog and people to see. but when it’s more boring landscape it becomes a bit of a struggle to get him to cooperate…

    any tips for me?

    • Hmm, how about trying to run around nap time? Do toys or snacks help?Annabelle is super hyper and into everything, but she seems perfectly content in her stroller on the trail. I was very surprised at how well she does. We were out for an hour and a half last weekend!

  3. Linda I would have to say I am a beef burger lover! We are past the stroller stage now…however we used to have a Trek. It was expensive though…Jake was always a sqirmy boy so it was hard to keep him in it once he became mobile…

Sorry to hear about your time you will recover…I saw a YouTube video of a girl that fell in a 600 Meter indoor track championship race and she got back up after the fall and kept running until she caught up…and she WON the race!!! Seeing that inspires us to keep moving forward! This too shall pass. We will persevere. Take care of yourself…
