So, I’ve had a rough couple of weeks. I know that everybody is going through something (and nobody comes here to read about a Debbie Downer), so I’m just going to share some pictures that make me happy. 🙂 I hope they make you smile too!
Florida in February is awesome. 😄
I woke up early last Friday morning and ran 7 easy miles on the treadmill followed by the 8 minute abs video….followed by a stop for the good stuff.
Saturday morning, I went to a boot camp class with my mom, brother, and sister in law. I always go when I’m in town and I LOVE it. We enjoyed breakfast outside afterwards and it was great to soak up some sunshine.
The weather turned rainy in the afternoon, so my mom and I headed to the gym. She ellipticalled and I treadmilled. Yup, neither of those are words but I’m using them anyway. I think my treadmill may have been broken because I did the following workout and it felt really good.
2 miles at 8:35 pace
5 miles at 7:30 pace
1/2 mile at 8:35 pace
We finished our workouts with the 8 minute abs video.
John and Emmy were nice enough to make us dinner that night (taco salads) and it was great to just hang out and talk.
Tuesday was another relaxing day, but it carried a dark cloud since we were heading home that evening. 😔 After breakfast, my mom and I walked to her condo gym and completed this workout from Julie.
After showering and packing up, we went to a local BBQ joint by my parent’s house. The food is amazing and everything comes with huge pieces of garlic bread. I wish I had taken pictures but I was busy keeping a toddler in her seat. 😜 We arrived at the airport early enough for my parents to come in and for Annabelle to run around a bit. We said goodbye and it keeps getting harder and harder. I always get sympathetic looks from the TSA agents who check my boarding pass and ID while I’m sucking back tears.
It was a great trip and I can’t wait to plan my next visit. The plane trip was pretty uneventful except for having to change AB’s diaper in the bathroom. Those things are not made for 2 year olds.
Do you live near your family?
What’s the last vacation you took?
Happy Friday! I don’t know about you guys, but I could really use a glass of wine and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.
It’s a list kind of day…
1. I’m actually SUPER busy at work and I am not used to such things! Things should slow down once January is over…I hope.
2. Our refrigerator doesn’t have much in it, but we have enough Christmas candy to get us through the zombie apocalypse.
Mile 1 9:13-8:35 pace
Mile 2 8:00 pace
Mile 3 7:47 pace
Mile 4 7:41 pace
Mile 5 7:35 pace
Mile 6 8:35 pace
4. We discovered an indoor play place close to our house. We will be spending the entire winter here because Annabelle loved it and it tired her out.
5. Speaking of Annabelle…wow, this week has been a struggle. She will be 2 on Tuesday (I still can’t believe it.) and she is in a very difficult stage. I blame us for some things that we didn’t end before they started, but we def have a few rough weeks ahead as we try to change some behaviors. Parenting is hard, very rewarding, but hard.
She fell asleep leaning against the window yesterday afternoon. 🙂
10. I miss them.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how has your week been?
Moms…any encouraging words would be great. This toddler stage is tough!
I know I’m super late to the party, but I wanted to share some of our Christmas fun with you all. I LOVE Christmas and I get very sad when it’s over. I may just leave up our tree forever. 🙂
Speaking of our tree…here it is.
A super big thank you to my new blog friend Amanda! We participated in a card exchange and she sent me a lovely card with a great treat inside. Thanks Amanda!
It’s no secret, I LOVE Christmas. Since Annabelle is almost 2 now, I decided that we should do a fun Christmas activity each day. 🙂
Day 1: Begin the advent calendar. AB needs to work on her sharing…she likes to eat the whole piece of chocolate herself. 😉
Dessert to give me energy for tree decorating…
11 pm, pajamas, Hallmark movies, and Monica’s 25 days of workouts.
I am looking forward to all of the holiday fun ahead! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
White lights or colored?. White!
Favorite Christmas movie? So many good ones…Elf, Home Alone 1 and 2, The Santa Clause, Love Actually.
Hi everyone! I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving (if you celebrate :-)) with family and friends and I hope you ate lots of great good! We had a super fun time over here with my family.
We had a mini snow storm on Wednesday, so I decided to stay home from work and use my extra time to prep for Thanksgiving. This was my first year actually cooking, so it was nice to get a head start.
I made sweet potato casserole, a chocolate mousse trifle, cookie bars, and dressing. It was so nice to have all of this done prior to Thursday.
We didn’t let sleep deprivation and freezing temps keep us from the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. My mom and I woke up and headed down the road to run a chilly 5k. The original plan was for me to run it and then back track to find my mom (who would be walking) once I finished. Well, she sure surprised me! I finished in about 24 minutes and headed back out to find her. It didn’t take long before I found her. She had decided to run instead of walk and she was already in her third mile! Since she had planned on walking, she was wearing a big winter hat and a long down coat AND carrying our packets! Even with all of that weighing her down, she ran her first 5k and finished in about 41 minutes. I am beyond proud. 🙂
After a stop for Starbucks and donuts, we headed home to shower and get the turkey in the oven. The day was made extra special because my Aunt Janice and Uncle Gren came over for a visit and it was sooo nice to see them. 🙂
We finally ate around 5 pm and it turned out very well for my first attempt at cooking. The menu included:
-Turkey and gravy
-Sweet potato casserole with marshmallows
-Chocolate Mousse Trifle (French vanilla cake layered with a cool whip and pudding mixture and topped with crushed Oreos…and repeat)
I made enough food for an army, so I’ve been eating leftovers everyday. I think I’ve had enough now.
I’m sad that I didn’t take a full family photo, but I did get a few good ones.
AB just couldn’t hang. 🙂 (Don’t worry, she was not really drinking beer or wine)
It was a great day and I’m now looking forward to a whole lot of Christmas fun.
Hey there! I’ve been MIA for a while (partly because I’ve been super busy and partly because I don’t have a computer right now) and I know at least 3 people have been missing my daily nonsense. Hi mom, dad, and Rob. 🙂
So, here’s what’s been happening.
1. I ran my second Ragnar Relay and it was AWESOME. My teammates are super fun and I’m so grateful to have been part of the team for a second year. I was runner number 6 and completed 23.3 miles during the race.
2. I did not get into Boston. Even though I qualified, I was not accepted due to the large number of applications. This was a hard pill to swallow. 😦
4. I am trying out the Glycerin 12s and I love them so far. I usually stick with the Pure Flows but I wanted something with a little more cushion for now. Annabelle loves to stick her hand up to give me high fives when we are running with he jogging stroller. 🙂
5. My cousin Carrie and I went to Cedar Point last weekend and it was such a blast. If you like roller coasters and scary stuff, Cedar Point in the Fall is the place to be.
Please tell me, what have you been up to lately?!?!
Yup, I stayed in my pjs all day today. Did I have a leisurely day of sitting on the couch and watching reality TV? Sadly, no. I was super productive and it feels good to get some much needed housework done.
The morning started with blueberry and banana pancakes followed by multiple loads of laundry, some clutter reorganization, and Annabelle’s first ponytail! She even waited a few minutes before she took it out. Girlfriend does not like anything in her hair. 😦
Dinner rolled around and I made marinated chicken, Mac and cheese, and roasted carrots/asparagus/onions. Annabelle worked on using a fork during dinner and actually used the fork to put some macaroni in her mouth. Unfortunately, she would take it right back out and didn’t eat much of it. Chris and I didn’t let it go to waste.
Do you ever spend the entire day in pjs (not including when you are sick)?
Favorite salad dressing?
What was your workout today???
Annabelle didn’t sleep well last night and then she woke up for the day at early o’clock. Even though today was a planned rest day, I couldn’t resist taking her for an early morning run on the NCR trail. It was a great morning for a run and I ended up with my fastest stroller run to date (I have a BOB!). 🙂
Annabelle is a very energetic and lively little thing (AKA Annabellion), so we didn’t know how she would handle sitting in the stands. I think we spent a few innings in our seats and that was plenty for her. Lady who sat in front of us, I’m sorry that Annabelle kicked you a few times. She didn’t mean it, I promise. 🙂
…and then headed inside to a nice, air conditioned restaurant for lunch. I ordered a salad topped with berries and walnuts and rounded off my meal with sweet potato tots. They were the best $8 tator tots I’ve ever had.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Baseball fan? Favorite team?
Sweet potato or regular potato?
Cheese or pepperoni pizza?
…Eat lots of ice cream. So, I had a hot fudge sundae 2 out of the last 3 nights. I’ll try harder tomorrow… I did enjoy my “healthy” angel food cake dessert last night.
I ended with a 1 minute plank, 1 minute side plank on each side, and another 1 minute plank.
In other news, I went to the dentist today and my gums are disappearing and the roots of my teeth are starting to show. Awesome.
True or false? You would rather go to the dentist than be at work.
We are having a thunderstorm right now. Did your parents ever tell you that thunder was the angels bowling in heaven?
