So, I’ve had a rough couple of weeks. I know that everybody is going through something (and nobody comes here to read about a Debbie Downer), so I’m just going to share some pictures that make me happy. 🙂 I hope they make you smile too!
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great start to your week! Since I had off for MLK day, I started the day with a 10 mile run with my running friends from work. I love these people. 🙂
We ran/ice skated for 10 miles on the NCR Trail. This trail, which is usually a compacted gravel trail, was covered in ice. We had to run on the grassy areas on the sides of the trail and definitely had to pay attention to our footing. Due to the conditions, we had to run pretty slow in parts, but we did have a few miles where we could pick up the pace a little. It was a great run with great company. 😊
The rest of the day was spent relaxing on the couch with my favorite little girl…
What was your workout today? Was it a good one?
Do you watch The Bachelor? Would you ever want to be on a show like this??
My BFF Lauren is having a baby! We’ve been friends for 23 years and it’s so fun to be experiencing all of life’s milestones (graduations, weddings, and now babies!) with her and the other members of our BFFs club. 🙂
Last Saturday, we (Kate, Amber, Kristie, Lauren’s parents, and me) threw a nautical themed baby shower for Lauren and Rob. It was a ton of fun and I loved getting to see everybody. Picture time!
I try to be a good person. I try to be kind, honest, and caring. I try to be nice and cordial with everyone, even if we aren’t the best of friends. I have many great examples (family and friends) of how to treat others and my parents raised me to be a good person.
I also have a few examples of how I DO NOT want to be. Some people are negative and miserable and they go after others to try and spread the misery. Thanks to those people, thank you for showing me how not to treat others. Thank you for helping me to appreciate the other awesome people in my life who lift me up instead of break me down.
I hope you all do something nice for someone today. In the words of a good friend of mine, be a buddy not a bully.
My college roommate (and one of my BFFs) is expecting her first child in June and we celebrated his upcoming arrival last Sunday! Here are some pictures from her “Under the Sea” themed baby shower. 🙂
Fishbowl candy bar!
Cupcakes from LaCakerie!
This morning’s breakfast was hot oatmeal with strawberries. I haven’t had hot oatmeal in forever and it hit the spot.
One of my very close running buddies is retiring and today was his last day. A few of us went on a leisurely 4.5 mile run to say goodbye and get one last run in. We will still see him often, but we will miss him during our lunch runs.
I hopped on a treadmill afterwards and finished with 7 easy miles for the day.
My lunch was a big salad that included mixed greens, spinach, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, chicken meatballs, baked croutons, and guacamole. I’ll be eating the exact same thing for lunch tomorrow and I’m totally ok with that.
I worked through the afternoon and was more than ready for a snack around 4:30. Man, was this a good one. Cookies + yogurt = genius. If you need an otherwise healthy snack made into a dessert, I’m your girl. 🙂
Do you mostly run alone or with a group of people?
Favorite yogurt topping?
Last Saturday morning, Annabelle and I flew to North Carolina to visit my BFFs in North Carolina.
Once we arrived, Lauren was nice enough to make a quick stop at Starbucks because I was a walking zombie. I enjoyed an ICED soy vanilla macchiato because it was sunny and in the 70s. It was glorious.
Since it was close to lunch time by the time we got to Lauren’s house, we ate lunch and then headed out to enjoy the weather. We took a nice long walk and made a stop at the playground. I’m not sure how Annabelle felt about the swing, but she was super sleepy so maybe that’s why she doesn’t look thrilled.
The rest of the night was spent hanging out…
…and eating ice cream and banana cream pie while watching White House Down (yes, Channing Tatum is amazing). This pie is from Harris Teeter and it is AMAZING. I don’t even like banana flavored things and I am in love with this pie.
Breakfast: eggs with ham, red peppers, and cheese with hash browns on the side.
Banana cream pie? Yay or nay?
Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and a nice start to your week. Here is a quick recap of my lovely 3-day weekend. (It’s late and I should be in bed, but I had to stay up and watch The Following…which is quite disturbing).
Saturday: long run, diner breakfast, shoe shopping with Kirstyn (AB’s first real pair of walking shoes!)
What was the best part of your weekend?
On Saturday, a group of my friends (friends since elementary and middle school!) got together for our annual ornament exchange. Each year we get together, eat lots of good food, and exchange ornaments. It is always fun when we get to see each other and even more fun now that we have a bunch of little ones running around. It was slightly chaotic. 🙂
Annabelle and Bennett mesmerized by the glass door. Happy 1st Birthday Bennett!
For the food, we did a potluck and it worked out great. I hosted this time and I am not capable of preparing a good meal for a large group of people. We had bbq chicken sandwiches, broccoli salad, fruit salad, taco dip, pita chips with guacamole, cookies, and a pretzel/jello/whipped cream dessert.
Here are the ornaments from this year. 🙂 It is so fun to look back at all of the ornaments from previous years and it’s great to get 5 new ornaments every year. (I have no idea why this picture is sideways, but I am way too tired to try and fix it. Just tilt your head to the left for a better view).
The gang! Kristie and her daughter Kaylee, Justin and Amber holding their son Linden, Me and Annabelle, Kate holding Bennett who she stole from Amber and Justin, and Lauren and Rob (PS Rob is my #1 fan and I greatly appreciate his readership.)
Love these people so much. 🙂
Do you have any ongoing holiday traditions?
Are you still in touch with friends from high school and/or college?
