Workouts, eats, and sweets.

And another weekend has come and gone… I wish I could say that I did something really fun or exciting this weekend, but I only really left the house to go to the gym and I didn’t wear anything but sweats and pjs. Anyway…here’s a recap of my workouts, eats, and sweets.

Workouts!

Friday

10 mile treadmill run – Miles 1-4 at an 8:35 pace, miles 5-10 alternating between 7:35 and 8:35.

Saturday

I didn’t have a lot of time, so I did a 27 minute Fitness Blender cardio workout (I can’t remember which one it was now).

Sunday

6 mile treadmill run at an 8:35 pace

15 minutes stair climber on fat burner level 14 (this was not fun)

15 minutes elliptical on random setting level 13 (hard effort using more arms than legs)

Eats!

Friday morning pancakes…blueberries inside and strawberries outside.

Fun fact: Annabelle LOVES blueberries and she will eat an entire container in one sitting if you let her.

Sweets!

Well, after lunch on Friday lots of candy happened. I probably ate about 8-10 Hershey’s Hugs and one Resse’s Peanut Butter Heart. I think this may have attibuted to my tummy troubles during and after my 10 mile run that evening.

And it wouldn’t be a weekend in my life without some of the good stuff…this bowl was filled with two kinds of Ben and Jerry’s (Milk and Cookies and Half Baked).

Random Weekend Pics

We finally got a decent sized snow storm. It started around 10 am on Saturday and didn’t stop until sometime during the night.

The weather was beautiful on Sunday…sunny and close to 40 degrees. 40 degrees compared to sub zero temperatures = summer time. Everyone was out and about without coats on. I even got my chai latte iced to celebrate the day. Don’t worry, we are back to winter tomorrow with a low of 1 degree. Awesome.

Snow day and the early bird special.

Today was a happy snow day! For once, the storm was worse to the south and we enjoyed a pretty couple of inches up in southern PA. It was great to have an extra day off to relax, fix our water heater, and get the house slightly put back together.

We had a leak from our water heater yesterday and today we noticed that our water was not actually heating.  With the help of some YouTube videos, Chris was able to relight the pilot light and we now have hot water!

I haven’t had almond milk for a really long time and I was craving a bowl of cereal with almond milk in a bad way.  This beautiful bowl of goodness was multi grain cheerios and cinnamon granola with strawberries and banana.  I really like the taste of vanilla milk so I get that…but I buy the light version.

Since I had some extra time on my hands, I decided to actually make a nice home cooked meal for dinner. I started the main course in the morning…bbq chicken in the crockpot. I used a McCormick Seasoning packet which called for the packet mix, ketchup, brown sugar, and water. All you have to do is stir it up and pour it over the chicken and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours. Shred and enjoy!

I finally fit in a workout while dinner was finishing up and it was not the greatest. This was my first workout since getting sick on Saturday night, so I guess my body is still recovering. I headed to my favorite at home workout resource (YouTube) and I did a Fitness Blender Workout and Jillian MIchael’s 30 Day Shred Level 3.  It definitely felt great to be active again.

Dinner was served at the early bird special time of 4:15 pm.  No, we do not usually eat this early.  Chris had to work at 5, so this was our only option for a sit down meal together.  Along with the BBQ shredded chicken, we enjoyed green beans and baked potatoes.  FYI, the key to a good baked potato is to coat the skin in olive oil and salt and pepper.  🙂

While Annabelle was sick, she slept on and off most of the day. Today was the first day that she was awake from morning to night and she just couldn’t hang past 6:30 pm. I really have no idea what to do with all of this free time!

Favorite Oreo flavor?  This is a tough call, but I really love the chocolate creme ones.

It’s VERY COLD in PA right now (like -25 degree wind chills this past weekend) and it seems like everybody is passing around sickness. The day after Annabelle and I returned from Florida, she came down with the stomach bug…in her crib. She is finally feeling better, but it was a rough couple of days and I feel like our house might smell until Spring. TMI? Oh well.

On Saturday evening, I started getting that feeling. I knew the bug was coming for me next. Saturday night and Sunday were pretty rough, but I’m feeling pretty good now. Now we just wait to see if Chris gets it…fingers crossed his couple beers a day keep the stomach bug away. LOL, I made that up myself.

To add to our fun weekend of sickness, we came home to a laundry room full of water today. Luckily, a quick fix to our water heater was all that was needed and we are enjoying hot water this evening.

They already closed my work tomorrow. Snow day!!!!

It’s been 2 weeks since Halloween and I had my first piece of candy this afternoon. It started with a mini Twix and a mini Milky Way. Next up were these babies…

I ended the candy eating binge with a full size Twix bar. Ugh.

Once I was done working for the day, I spent an hour with Jillian Michaels to balance everything out. Maybe all of that candy will be good fuel for my 20 mile run tomorrow morning???

I love Mondays at home.

My work schedule allows for me to be off every other Monday and it is great. Even better is that we have been off because of snow the past two Mondays I was supposed to work. Win win situation. 🙂

I LOVE making breakfast at home, so the day started with stuffed French toast. I finally found The Laughing Cow’s Cinnamon Cream Cheese spread and it made for the perfect filling.

Since the road conditions were not great for running, I headed to the gym for this week’s tempo workout.

1 mile warmup at 9:13 pace
4 mile tempo at 7:35 pace
1 mile cool down at 8:34 pace

I’m not going to lie, this felt TOUGH. My legs were still pretty tired from my long run and it took me about a half of a mile to stop feeling like I couldn’t keep up with the belt on the treadmill.

I finished the workout with a 3 minute plank and a few side planks. Pro compression socks and capris make for the perfect outfit. 🙂

Since I food prepped on Sunday, I ate the lunch I had packed to take to work yesterday.

I REALLY wanted some Cadbury Mini Eggs for dessert, but I controlled myself and had a banana cream yogurt with chocolate goldfish mixed in instead.

The rest of the day was spent doing house stuff and playing with this little stinker. 🙂

My mom came up to hang out with us once Chris went to work. Annabelle LOVES her grandparents. I made grilled chicken salads for dinner and it felt good to eat lots of veggies before I consumed a boat load of ice cream.

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and congrats to those of you who got a 3-day weekend because of snow. 🙂 Even though we didn’t get too much snow, my work was closed and I loved being home for an extra day.

Saturday!

20 mile run. It.was.tough. This was our first 20 miler of our training and we have 3 more to go. C’mon warm weather! It was so great to get it done early (we started at 8 and it was 16 degrees) and I got to hold Jeanette’s 2 new baby goats when we finished! She also sent me home with some farm fresh eggs that taste amazing.

Sunday!

We met our friends Nick and Kim for lunch and then we went to see their beautiful new home. For lunch, I ordered a turkey sandwich and a cup of cream of crab soup and it was delicious. I wish I took a picture of Chris’ sandwich because it had macaroni and cheese on it!!

Monday!

Thanks to a snow storm, I got to enjoy an extra day at home this weekend. One of the many reasons I love being home, is that I get to cook more. 🙂 Breakfast was a spinach and cheese omelette and an apple. I used two of my fresh from the farm eggs and added some liquid egg whites to get some more volume.

I really enjoyed my lunch today…I even made double so that I could take it to work for lunch tomorrow. Turkey and ham with spinach on whole wheat potato bread with carrots and cucumbers on the side.

Annabelle had some carrots too and she still had a tiny piece in her mouth after her bath…30 minutes later. Saving it for later I guess. 🙂

Surprise, surprise, I needed something sweet after lunch. I ate a soft chocolate chunk cookie and washed it down with some Starbucks. Perfect combination.

For dinner, my mom and I went to Panera Bread. The place was a ghost town…I guess nobody wanted to venture out in the single digit temps. I tried the shrimp couscous salad with broccoli cheddar soup on the side. The salad was very light and refreshing but it wasn’t very big. Good thing I stopped at TCBY on the way home.

I could really get used to being at home all day. It’s so fun to make breakfast and hang out with Annabelle (and Chris) all morning.

Annabelle did the cutest thing this morning. Right before Sesame Street started (I have no idea how she knew it was coming on), she sat in her chair and bounced around with excitement. Love her <3.

When you can’t run, shovel!

Since I ate a delicious chocolate donut pretty early this morning, I was ready for second breakfast around 10:30. I made us eggs, potatoes with onions, and bagels. 🙂

Since I obviously couldn’t go out for a run, I decided that shoveling (about 15 inches of snow) would be a great workout.

In a little over 2 hours, I had shoveled out our front sidewalk, driveway, and some of our outer sidewalks. I didn’t shovel out the back of our driveway because it made more sense to wait for the plow to come through first.

I was pretty hungry when I got back inside, so I snacked on yogurt with sliced banana and cinnamon granola.

A little while later I went back out and shoveled out the last part of the driveway. Total shoveling time = 3 hours! I wonder how many calories I burned? Enough to have a huge bowl of ice cream? I believe so! FYI…Chris offered to shovel and would have done so, but I insisted on doing it. 🙂

After shoveling round 2, I was so ready for a shower and dinner. While our pizza was cooking, Annabelle and I snacked on some animal crackers. I just can’t eat one. They are just too good.

Look at that, we have a blizzard.

Since I wanted to get home and get dinner done quickly (so my parents could get home before the snow started), I picked up Subway on the way home. Meatball sub for my dad and salads for me and my mom.

The salads at Subway are pretty darn good. In the mix: spinach, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, onions, cheese, grilled chix, ranch dressing, and BBQ sauce drizzled on top. We added some crushed up tortilla chips too. 🙂 I totally took a picture but it’s MIA. Don’t be too upset…

After dinner, I noticed that I had gotten a package from my Aunt Janice. She made us all fingerless gloves! I CANNOT wait to put AB’s on.

She also sent an Elmo spoon and fork. Maybe Annabelle will start eating well again now that Elmo is involved.

Everything is closed. In fact, everything shut down last night. This is what we woke up to and it’s still coming down strong. Today will be a day full of snuggling and food…I will try to eat healthy options before my boat load of ice cream later.

Yesterday was the normal work, run, eat, and watch the clock until it’s time to go home kind of day. 🙂

Run:

8 miles total (2 warmup, 4 tempo, 2 cool down). I finished up my workout with a 3 minute plank.

Lunch:

Leftover crockpot special! This was green, red, and orange peppers, carrots, onions, chicken, Israeli cous cous, and BBQ sauce. I topped it with some guacamole and it was amazing.

Dinner: I got home from work around 6:30 and Annabelle was already in bed. 😦 I didn’t feel like making anything complicated, so I made a spinach and cheese omelette and two pieces of raisin bread.

We are having quite the winter this year and we woke up to more crap beautiful ice this morning. This is what an iced over screen looks like.

Everything was covered by a thick sheet of ice. The sidewalks and street were like an ice rink and my car was completely encased in ice. I decided to wait it out and head into work later in the day. That meant family time with Chris and Annabelle!

I made pancakes for breakfast and I topped mine with Jif chocolate peanut butter spread, a banana, and some syrup. They were quite dry and needed these toppings. Chris fed his to Molly. :-/

Since I wasn’t going to be at work for my lunch hour, I fit in a quick workout in my basement. I love at home workouts because they are quick and effective and you don’t need any equipment. Today, I did one of Julie’s workouts and it was a good one.
