Weekend Snapshots!

Hi everybody! I hope you all had a great weekend! Here are some pictures from my weekend adventures. 🙂

I ate good food, went on an 8 mile stroller run with AB, and spent some quality time on the playground. (Not pictured: brownies and ice cream, but yes, it happened).

Now I’m ready to snuggle up on the couch and watch Homeland!

What was the best part of your weekend?

Brinner, fro yo, and an early wake up call.

By the time I got home last night, Annabelle was asleep and my parents had already eaten dinner. Therefore, I just cooked a quick and easy egg sandwich = brinner (breakfast for dinner).

Thomas’s everything bagel

Egg whites with cheese

Hot pepper jelly (this stuff is amazing!). It is actually pretty sweet and it goes great with eggs. My friend’s daughter makes it in case you are interested in buying some. 🙂

Finished product!

My mom and I looked through the Title Nine and Athleta magazines while I ate. (FYI – my dream job would be a stay at home mom who models for Athleta on the side.) Maybe someday right?

I love Thursday nights…eating fro yo while watching Honey Boo Boo. This was our second try at taking a picture and this was the best one. LOL.

My alarm was set for pretty early this morning.

Annabelle decided that I should wake up even earlier at 4. I got her back to sleep around 4:45 and headed to the gym.

Tempo Run

1 mile at a 8:45 pace
5 miles at a 7:35 pace

I wore the low cut Pro Compression socks for the first time and I LOVED them. I’m sure I’ll be buying way too any pairs of these. I’m still rocking my Brooks Pure Flow 2s…they never let me down.

I quickly showered and headed into work. My appetite wasn’t real there, but I ate frosted mini wheats and a banana with skim milk.

I was very surprised that there were 7 grams of protein in this serving of cereal, so I managed to get a good mix of carbs and protein (and potassium) with this breakfast. 🙂

Now looking ahead to dinner…maybe pizza to carbo load for my 20 miler tomorrow morning!?!?!?

What are your Friday night plans?

What time did you get up today?

The best gym selfie.

Even though I had off work today, my day started bright and early at 6:30. Annabelle has not been sleeping well because of her cold, so that means none of us are sleeping well. I feel like a zombie.

The best way to fight sleepiness, an egg and cheese bagel sandwich and a coffee.

Since I ran 10 miles yesterday, I made today a cross-training day and headed to the gym.

Today’s Workout
– 30 minutes on the elliptical
– 15 minutes on the bike
– 2000 meters on the rowing machine
– 1:00 minute side plank (1 per side)
– 3:00 minute plank

I’ve decided my best selfies block out my face. 🙂 I’m not sure what I was taking a picture of, but my hair looks really dirty dark and I LOVE that headband. You can get it here!

The rest of the night included dinner with my parents and hanging with Burrito (Annabelle’s nickname).

Oh yea, I’m almost forgot about this. 🙂

Here’s hoping for a snow day tomorrow! I could really use some extra sleep.

Are you expecting snow tomorrow?

What’s your favorite running accessory?

Running Unplugged

Sometimes you just need to run unplugged. No music and no watch. I tend to want to run fast (or at least try to) every time I head out. This leads to overuse, burnout, and injury. I have big plans for 2014 and I need to stay healthy and injury free. In order to do that, I will need to train hard but also take the easy days easy and recover properly. Yesterday’s run was 5.6 miles and I have no idea how long it took. It felt easy and that’s just what I needed.
The rest of my Wednesday included:

– Looking at my parent’s high school yearbooks.

My dad in 1968!

Chris’ dad in 1968! (They went to the same high school but didn’t know each other.)

– Teaching Annabelle how to pole dance. 😉

– Eating fro yo and picking out stuff I wish I could afford.

My mom and AB had a dance party this morning. This picture makes me very happy.

Tell me something fun about your day!

Do you own anything from Athleta? Yes! I love everything I get from there. 🙂

What kind of pants are those?

Yesterday was a pretty chill day. I got up and ran first thing. It really does feel good to get it done in the morning. I ran 7 miles at an average pace of 8:11 and I don’t really remember running it. I don’t know if I was super tired or thinking about stuff, but it was done before I knew it.

Since I didn’t eat before my run, I was pretty hungry when I got home. I whipped up a quick batch of Tina’s OMG Pancakes. Molly has always loved them and AB has started to eat them now too.

Leftovers for breakfast this morning. 🙂

Annabelle also enjoyed a croissant the size of her head.

I headed straight down to my parent’s house (I showered later at their house) and I really didn’t want to take off my Athleta tights. They are so warm and comfortable.

Annabelle loves going to my parent’s house because they have a bunch of new toys for her to play with. 🙂 She didn’t like her pony at first, but she is warming up to her.

The rest of the day was spent…

-eating lunch

-manicures with my mom

PS I love my snowflake leggings and they are super soft, but all my dad could say about them was “What kind of pants are those? They are interesting.” Men just don’t know fashion. 😉

-Chipotle for dinner. I can count the number of times I’ve eaten at Chipotle on one hand, but it is super good whenever I have it.

Big day planned today…car inspection (doing that now), work, workout, and then a wild New Year’s Eve celebration. 🙂

What are your New Year’s plans?

Chipotle fan?

Do you like my leggings?

A Runner’s Christmas List

The holiday shopping season is officially here!  If you have a relative, friend, or coworker that is a runner (I think we all have a runner in our life!) and you are looking for the perfect gift for them, look no further.  Any runner, me inlcluded, would love to receive any of the items on this list.  I hope you find the perfect gift for that crazy, endorphin-loving, pain seeking special runner in your life!

1.  Anything and everything from Erica Sara Designs.  I absolutely love her jewelry and she has something for everyone.   I really like the “Run” necklaces  and bracelets and I LOVE these stackable rings.  Click here to see more great gift ideas!

2.  C9 by Champion for Target.  Who doesn’t love new running gear?  The C9 line by Champion is high-quality, cute, and AFFORDABLE.  The C9 apparrel is sold at Target, so you can do a lot of shopping in just one stop.  🙂  I think the cowl neck pullover below is super cute and it comes in a variety of colors.

C9 by Champion® Women's Microfleece Cowl Neck Pullover - Assorted Colors

3.  The Runner’s World Cookbook.  The first section of the book focuses on nutritional information and staple ingredients every runner should know, and the second part of the cookbook illustrates how to turn these facts into delicious, quick, and nutrient-boosting meals through delectable recipes.  If you are buying this for your significant other, this is a gift that will benefit your tummy too.  🙂

4.  A foam roller or stick.  Now that I use a foam roller/stick after every single run (and Body Pump), I can’t imagine living without them!  I use the Exervo Nimbus EnduraBead Pro Foam Roller and I love it.  It is pretty firm and my muscles feel so good afterwards.  When I’m traveling or if I have hard to reach trouble spots, I use the Sprinter Stick.  PS TheStick.com is offering FREE SHIPPING right now.

5.  Cold Gear.  Now that the temperature has dropped (unless you are lucky enough to live in a nice warm place), it is very necessary to be dressed appropriately.  🙂  I LOVE Athleta and they have a huge variety of cold weather running gear. Today only, you can get 20% off in stores and online with the promo code FIT20.  They don’t have sales often, so this is a really good time to buy some gifts and make somebody very happy.  🙂  I’m also loving the stuff at New Balance right now.

6.  Fuel.  Runners need to eat well in order to perform well.  Sometimes it’s difficult to find the best pre-run snack, but I’ve found that Picky Bars are perfect.  Not only are they delicious, they are a little smaller than the usual “bar” and they still provide a great source of energy.  Right now, you can get 30% off with the promo code PICKY30!

7. Sport Hooks.  Runners love to sign up for as many races and possible and with almost every race comes a shiny new race medal.  If you don’t have anywhere to store/display your medals, they end up shoved in the back of a drawer (like mine right now 😦 ).  These Sport Hooks are great because you can customize the design you want (Running, Disney, Blog Name, Boston, etc.) and you can proudly display all of your medals!  I really like this one…hint, hint.

I hope this list helps you shop for that special runner in your life!

What is on your Christmas List this year?

Negative splits and new running clothing.

Since I got a pedicure during lunch yesterday…

…I got my run in after work. What makes any run more fun, new clothes of course (bday present from my parents…thanks Mom and Dad)! My top, skort, and socks (Feetures brand) are all from Athleta. I ❤ everything from there.

I ran 5.6 semi-hilly and super humid miles and I felt like I was going to die by the end.

I’ve been working on my speed and I managed mostly negative splits and mile 4 was a 7:19 pace! No wonder I was ready to collapse at the end. 🙂

After I stretched and foam rolled, my Dad, AB, and I went to dinner at Chris’ work. I had the turkey club wrap with sweet potato fries.

Since we were in walking distance to a homemade ice cream shop, I went home with a quart of cookies and cream and enjoyed a small bowl half of the container while watching Big Brother.

Are you running today? How far?

Friday night plans?

Random Fun Stuff

I ran 10 miles on Saturday morning and I had some pretty fast (for me) miles. We did “pick ups” and ran at a semi-comfortable pace for a mile and then picked it up as much as we could for a mile. On my pick up miles, I managed to run between 7:10 and 7:30.

My run was followed by a massage and haircut at the spa. Happy early birthday to me!

My mom watched Annabelle while I was gone. I’m so lucky to have her.

We went to our favorite place for brunch on Sunday. I got eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast. I usually get fruit instead of bacon, but they didn’t have any this week.

I bought this awesome cooler bag to take on vacation next week. I LOVE bags of any kind.

Healthy eats!

Annabelle actually ate some bananas!

My mom took me shopping at Athleta for my birthday. I got a bathing suit, running skirt and shirt, and two pairs of socks. Have I mentioned how awesome my mom is? 🙂

Annabelle has a pretty large head…which means she has a big brain right? Her 6 month appointment went great and she is ready to ride in the jogging stroller. I am so excited!

Tell me something fun about your Tuesday!

Annabelle meets the Easter Bunny

Annabelle has decided that she wants to party during the 4 am hour again…she stopped doing that for a few weeks and it was glorious.  Since I was super tired this morning, I missed out on yoga (sorry Andrea).  When I finally got up and moving, I made it to the gym for a workout.

Yesterday’s workout: (since I didn’t post it yesterday)

30 minutes on the elliptical at level 12

5000 meters on the rowing machine, level 10 – 500 meters with a 1:00 minute rest repeated 10 times.  FYI:  If you  have not tried the rowing machine, you really should.  It’s an amazingly great workout and I am so tired afterwards.

10 minutes on the stairmaster at level 14

Today’s workout:

30 minutes on the elliptical at level 12

3067 meters on the rowing machine, level 10 – row for 1:40 and then 20 second rest repeated 7 times

WOD – 10 burpees, 15 jump squats, 10 moving push ups,  15 mountain climbers, 15 tricep dips, 15 floor ski jumps, plank:  repeated 3 times

I worked out almost everyday while I was pregnant, but it was just to stay in some sort of shape and it made me feel good…nothing too intense.  It feels so good to now get in those workouts that kick my butt and I feel a few days later.

Chris played Mr. Mom while I was gone and he had AB bathed and dressed when I got home.  We had a big day planned…Annabelle’s first Easter Bunny visit!  This Easter Bunny was not as scary as some I have seen and AB seemed more interested in the lights on the ceiling than the bunny :).  Thanks for the Easter outfit Aunt CK!

Annabelle with Poppy and Grandses

After the Easter Bunny excitement, we had lunch.  I had a spinach salad with chicken, cranberries, grapes, walnuts, and gorgonzola cheese.  My mom and I also split some breadsticks.

The rest of the afternoon was spent napping and watching a few episodes of Wipeout.  I don’t care what anybody says, this show is hilarious.

My mom and I decided to go to the Fresh Market and we couldn’t help stopping in Athleta…we ended up buying eachother birthday presents :).

Just because she is so darn cute…

What do you think?

Do you think the Easter Bunny is a little scary looking?

What are your Easter plans?

Dinner with family 🙂

Lazy Wednesday

We didn’t get out of bed until around 10 this morning.  AB got up to eat around 7:45 and when she fell back asleep at 8:30, I decided that I would get back into bed too.  She was awake and ready to go around 10, so Chris and I gave her a bath and got her dressed.

iPhone Pics 22413 005

She just started to entertain the idea of the pacifier.  She only uses it when she is getting hungry and it isn’t time to eat again yet.  She definitely has a very healthy appetite!

Breakfast was oatmeal with honey and cinnamon and a chobani yogurt…boring but satisfying.

After breakfast, I went out for a walk/jog around the neighborhood.  The sun was shining and the temperature was in the 40s, but the wind was still blowing pretty hard and I was running into a head wind for much of the way.  I covered about 3 miles and jogged for more time than I walked.  I can’t wait for Saturday when I go on an actual run on the trail.  I have new workout gear from Old Navy to try out and I really  hope these babies get here in time…

PureFlow 2

Brooks PureFlow 2!  I have used Brooks in the past and this particular shoe is very highly rated by The Hungry Runner Girl.  She is a rockstar runner and maybe these will make me run as fast as she does :).

Since I really need to get to the grocery store, Chris picked up Subway for lunch.  I got a turkey and ham foot long with spinach and tomatoes and I had an apple on the side.  I only ate half of the sub and will eat the other half later.  Chris broke Jared’s rules and ate his entire foot long at one sitting.  I absolutely love the clothing in Athleta and I always look through the magazine and pick out what I will buy fantasize about.

Here is a picture of Annabelle just because.  She was totally hogging the tv remote…she thinks the Property Brothers on HGTV are cute.
