Sweatshirts and running.

Well, we made it through Monday and tomorrow is a federal holiday. Yay for being a federal employee! A BIG thank you to all of our past and present members of the military.

We had a pretty good weekend over here. When I got home from work on Thursday, I had FOUR great surprises waiting for me.

1. A very nice note from Chris.
2. My favorite Starbucks drink in the fridge.
3. A Reebok yoga sweatshirt.

4. A Nike sweatshirt.

He’s kinda the best. ๐Ÿ™‚ PS I have failed to take a picture of the sweatshirts even though I have lived in the Nike one for the last 4 days.

Annabelle got new boots and a new coat this weekend. She didn’t want to take it off.

I decided to randomly make these on Friday afternoon and it was one of my better decisions.

Sunday morning was spent running a 10k over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and it was awesome! I’ll have a full recap up soon.

Sunday afternoon was spent running another 8 miles with the jogging stroller. Why would I so such a thing? Because I thought it was a great idea to sign up for a marathon happening at the end of this month. More on that later. ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have an obsession with sweats? Yes!

Chocolate chip cookie or brownie? Tough decision…

Wednesday: Work, workout, what I ate

Good afternoon! Yesterday was another normal day in the neighborhood…a very rainy neighborhood.

My alarm went off at 5, I drove to work, and began work before 7 am.

Breakfast included oatmeal and a banana and my new obsession…hot tea!

My workout was an X-Fit class at my work gym and it was a killer. Lots of squats, high knees, burpees, push ups, and about 15 minutes of AB work.

Lunch was leftovers from Tuesday night’s dinner…chicken, peas, and sweet potato tots.

After a very rainy two hour commute home, I made a salad for dinner. Spinach was the base layer and I added peas, sweet potato tots, carrots, cheese, a veggie burger, and guacamole. I also snacked on some Wheat Thins. This flavor is amazing!

Annabelle and I snuggled/wrestled on the couch for a bit and watched Sesame Street before she went to bed. She is going into a little biting stage and her teeth are so sharp! Anybody else have a 21 month old who is doing this???

Once AB was down for the night, I enjoyed some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that I bought at a bake sale today.

I also booked a flight to visit these guys in December! I can’t wait!!

(Lauren and Rob (my #1 fan))

I hope you are having a great Thursday! It’s almost the weekend!

What time do you get up?

How long is your commute to work?

Any parents that can help me with the biting thing????

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

In case you haven’t heard, it’s snowing in the North East. We aren’t getting anywhere near what New York and Massachusetts are getting, but it’s coming down.

It took me an hour and a half to get to my parent’s house after work and since I didn’t feel like making dinner, I stopped at Poulet Chicken for take out.

My mom and I had BBQ chicken, mixed veggies, and sweet potato tots (this picture looks terrible but the food really is super good).

Annabelle didn’t take a nap today, so she was so ready for bed when I finally got home. Poppy is the baby whisperer and he gets her to sleep every time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Since AB and I are sleeping over, I’m in my pjs watching tv with my mom…and eating cookies. Added bonus: my work has a 2 hour delay tomorrow!

Have a great night!

Is it snowing in your area?

Favorite cookie?

A very Christmas Eve Eve.

After a weekend full of eating, I was more than ready for a run yesterday. I hit the treadmill at lunch and ran 8 miles in 63 minutes…slowest mile was 9 minutes and fastest mile was 6:58. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is Gina…she is super sweet and running so fast that she is just a blur.

After our run, we finished our workout with some good old fashioned planking.
My evening was spent with Annabelle and my parents and we did all sorts of Christmasy stuff!

1. AB opened up her first Christmas present. Thanks for the pjs Miss Marissa and Sean!

2. We got Starbucks and rode around to see Christmas lights.

This house is awesome! They have their own radio station and the lights change to the music. ๐Ÿ™‚

3. We baked destroyed a batch of cookies…

I tried to make these…

(From Heather)

…and they did not turn out very well. This is where the first batch ended up.

I kept the second batch (because I couldn’t make myself throw them away) but I’m not sure what I will do with them. They aren’t terrible but they are really dry. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I def blame human error on this one.

Anybody want some freshly baked cookies???

The night ended with me frantically wrapping a few presents and getting to bed at 1 am. Staying awake at work today should be a challenge…

It’s Christmas Eve!!!! I’m so excited for Annabelle’s first Christmas!!

Anybody else ruin some cookies this year?

What does your family do tonight?

What is the best thing you will eat tomorrow???

Happy 4th of July!

I was very patriotic on Wednesday…red white a blue shirt and an awesome USA headpiece.

I even wore the headpiece for a very sweaty 6.3 mile run. ๐Ÿ™‚ The humidity was at 500% on Wednesday and you started sweating with the thought of going outside.

My 4th started with a 33 mile bike ride with Frank. This is an old picture but you get the idea.

The course was SUPER hilly and even Frank (who bikes all the time and is a triathlete), was done at the end. The last few miles felt like the last few miles of a marathon…I was so happy when it was over, but as always, so happy that I did it.

Next up was a BBQ with Chris’ work family. Annabelle got dressed in her red, white, and blue and we crossed our fingers that she wouldn’t require a wardrobe change before we got to the party.

Annabelle feeding update: she totally ate some bananas yesterday, but all she really wants to eat is her feet.

Chris’ boss has a great BBQ setup.

I ate a burger, watermelon, pasta salad, and raw veggies (my plate of one of each dessert is not pictured). Annabelle ate her hands.

It was a really fun day and Annabelle enjoyed her first 4th of July.

We caught up on Big Brother episodes when we got home and Molly hid in the closet during the fireworks…I live in the country and everybody seems to have fireworks at all times.

We have a neighborhood BBQ tonight, so I decided to make chocolate chip cookies at 10:30 pm last night…

I finally got to bed around midnight and AB decided that she wanted breakfast at 5 am…this is going to be a rough work day.

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!

What do you normally do to celebrate the 4th?
My friends Lauren and Amber (and Annabelle’s future boyfriend) enjoyed a pool day and a minor league baseball game. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy 5 months Annabelle!

I can’t believe she is already 5 months old! We are very fortunate to have a happy and healthy baby girl.

She had a great day because she finally got to meet this bird we are always talking about. BTW, Chris didn’t even smile this big on our wedding day. LOL.

In honor of AB’s 5 month birthday…

I got up before 5 and went to the 6 am Bikram class.

I took a body pump class during lunch and I did 500 squats.

I microwaved my Amy’s lunch for 5 minutes.

I made a 5 ingredient omelette for dinner…zucchini, squash, mushrooms, spinach, and cheese. Having half of an avocado with my omelette was the best decision of my day.

I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and I added milk chocolate chips AND white chocolate chips. I will eat 5 of them tonight. JK, I won’t. ๐Ÿ™‚

On Saturday, I will double 5 miles while running the Baltimore 10 Miler.

Are you racing this weekend?

Cookies/pastries or ice cream?

Pool day and I baked and cooked in the same day!

I know it’s Tuesday and I’m still talking about the weekend, but AB has her first cold and I’ve been spending extra cuddle time with her.

Saturday was a nice and relaxing day…

Pool time with Kirstyn…

Chinese food while watching Dark Skies (we were going to grill but Kirstyn was feeling under the weather).

Sunday was also pretty relaxing…brunch, grocery shopping, and baking!

Bev’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

**I used Stevia for baking in place of the sugar and I used Smart Balance in place of the butter. I used Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Chips and it was an excellent choice :-).

On the same day, I also made dinner! I’m not sure where the motivation came from, but I even made up my own thing!

Zucchini and yellow squash
Portabella mushrooms
Ground turkey
Jar of pasta sauce
Pizza dough
Mozzarella cheese
Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
**(I didn’t measure how much of each veggie I used…just add enough to have a good mix)

1. Cook the ground turkey and the zucchini and squash (use a little olive oil and salt and pepper to taste). I used two pans because I didn’t have one big enough.

2. Add the zucchini and squash to the turkey and cook the mushrooms and spinach (olive oil and salt and pepper to taste).

3. Add the mushrooms and spinach to the turkey mixture and add one jar of pasta sauce.

4. Grease a baking sheet and roll the pizza dough out flat. Add the mixture to the center of the dough and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. FYI…I did not use all of the filling.

5. Fold over the edges and try to cover most of the insides. Brush the dough with olive oil and bake at 400 degrees for about 17 minutes.

This meal was quick, easy, and delicious. We have plenty of leftovers too…I had a piece for lunch yesterday (I will also eat this for lunch today and probably tomorrow…LOL)

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday and if you can’t squeeze in a nap, take comfort in the fact that Annabelle will take one for you :-).

Celebrating the marriage of John and Emmy!

Yesterday, I hosted a party to celebrate John and Emmy’s marriage :-).

Since theyย had a small (and quite lovely) ceremony in November, they decided to have a party to celebrate the wedding with friends and family that could not attend.ย  We spent the morning prepping and decorating…and trying to keep the boys from eating everything.

The spread included:

Chili and cornbread

Chick-fil-A chicken

Chips and dips – 5 layer, guacamole, buffalo chicken

Veggie platter, m&ms, combos, mixed nuts

Cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes, brownies and cookies made from scratch store bought mixes – you need to try these cupcakes…they deliver ๐Ÿ™‚

The Bride and Groom!ย  and Morgan

My mom’s side of the family –

Annabelle got all dressed up for the party.ย  She was a big hit!

AB was tired out afterย a long day of visiting.ย  She loves sleeping on Poppy.

We had a great day with family and friends…and awesome food!ย  Congrats, Emmy and John!
