Thursday Thoughts!

TGI almost F. Anybody else really happy it’s almost the weekend?

How about some random, thought provoking, incredibly insightful thoughts/things for this Thursday?

1.  My Uncle Gren took this picture when we visited a few weeks ago.  He said she is going to break some hearts one day…and he is right.  ❤

2. This lovely gem was taken during my junior or senior year of high school. My friend Jessica and I beat the boys playing basketball, so we got our pictures taken with these homemade (wrestling) belts. I hope Dave D., John, and Dave H. aren’t still mad about it. 🙂

3.  So, this is a picture of my hand from this morning.  My hands are so dry that they are cracking and bleeding everywhere.  I put lotion on all day long and this still happens.  They are much worse tonight…so bad that I cannot bend them to make fists.  C’mon Summer time…

4. The windows in our house aren’t the greatest. The wind is so strong that I can hear it whistling through the baby monitor in Annabelle’s room. Don’t worry Mom and Dad, the heater is keeping her warm. 🙂

5. Panera Bread just sounded like the right thing to do for dinner tonight. Classic salad with chicken and broccoli cheddar soup for the win. I had big plans for me and Annabelle to go get fro yo in our PJs, but she was ready to sleep before we had the chance.

6. I’ve been really busy at work for the past few months. While I am more stressed than I have been in a while, I actually feel like I have a real purpose now…and I like that.

7.  I LOVE that Annabelle’s hair is long enough for this cute high ponytail.  Hydrating like a champ.

8. I’m about to eat some chocolate and watch some trashy TV (read:  Dance Moms).  If you put all the drama aside, I really just like to watch the dancing.  Fun Fact:  I was a baton twirler back in the day and I love watching all types of choreography.

9.  I’m in a running slump of sorts.  It’s been REALLY cold lately and running outside has been a challenge.  Along with the ice and snow, it’s just been hard to get in quality runs.  I don’t mind the treadmill if I’m doing speed work, but man is it hard to do long runs on that thing.  CONFESSION:  The closer it gets to Boston and the more I read about others training for it, the more jealous/bitter/sad I get.  Ok, it’s not that bad.  But I am definitely bummed that I won’t be there this year even though I made the cut.

10.  I can’t wait to finish up work for the week and spend Friday night with Chris, Annabelle, and Molly.  🙂

Tell me one of your happy thoughts for today!

Favorite trashy TV show?

Who is running Boston?  Never mind, don’t answer this one.  😉

A fridge full of candy and my toddler is OUT OF CONTROL.

Happy Friday! I don’t know about you guys, but I could really use a glass of wine and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.

It’s a list kind of day…

1. I’m actually SUPER busy at work and I am not used to such things! Things should slow down once January is over…I hope.

2. Our refrigerator doesn’t have much in it, but we have enough Christmas candy to get us through the zombie apocalypse.

3. I ran with Jeanette yesterday! She had an accident and has been recovering for a month. It was so great to enjoy a (treadmill) run with her.

I ran 6 miles and it was a tough one.

Mile 1 9:13-8:35 pace
Mile 2 8:00 pace
Mile 3 7:47 pace
Mile 4 7:41 pace
Mile 5 7:35 pace
Mile 6 8:35 pace

4. We discovered an indoor play place close to our house. We will be spending the entire winter here because Annabelle loved it and it tired her out.

5. Speaking of Annabelle…wow, this week has been a struggle. She will be 2 on Tuesday (I still can’t believe it.) and she is in a very difficult stage. I blame us for some things that we didn’t end before they started, but we def have a few rough weeks ahead as we try to change some behaviors. Parenting is hard, very rewarding, but hard.

She fell asleep leaning against the window yesterday afternoon. 🙂

6. She still loves selfies.

7. Working from home = Chris brings me breakfast. 🙂

8. Go Ravens! I can’t wait for tomorrow!

9. I want to go to dinner and a movie. I haven’t been to a movie since last November (like November 2013). A date night is much needed.

10. I miss them.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how has your week been?

Moms…any encouraging words would be great. This toddler stage is tough!

Merry Belated Christmas!

I know I’m super late to the party, but I wanted to share some of our Christmas fun with you all. I LOVE Christmas and I get very sad when it’s over. I may just leave up our tree forever. 🙂

Speaking of our tree…here it is.

A super big thank you to my new blog friend Amanda! We participated in a card exchange and she sent me a lovely card with a great treat inside. Thanks Amanda!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving and my mom’s first 5k!!!

Hi everyone! I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving (if you celebrate :-)) with family and friends and I hope you ate lots of great good! We had a super fun time over here with my family.

We had a mini snow storm on Wednesday, so I decided to stay home from work and use my extra time to prep for Thanksgiving. This was my first year actually cooking, so it was nice to get a head start.

I made sweet potato casserole, a chocolate mousse trifle, cookie bars, and dressing. It was so nice to have all of this done prior to Thursday.

A white Thanksgiving Eve.

My parents flew in on Wednesday evening and I was SO HAPPY to see them. By the time we got home and got Annabelle settled down, it was after 1 am and we were exhausted.

We didn’t let sleep deprivation and freezing temps keep us from the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. My mom and I woke up and headed down the road to run a chilly 5k. The original plan was for me to run it and then back track to find my mom (who would be walking) once I finished. Well, she sure surprised me! I finished in about 24 minutes and headed back out to find her. It didn’t take long before I found her. She had decided to run instead of walk and she was already in her third mile! Since she had planned on walking, she was wearing a big winter hat and a long down coat AND carrying our packets! Even with all of that weighing her down, she ran her first 5k and finished in about 41 minutes. I am beyond proud. 🙂

After a stop for Starbucks and donuts, we headed home to shower and get the turkey in the oven. The day was made extra special because my Aunt Janice and Uncle Gren came over for a visit and it was sooo nice to see them. 🙂

We finally ate around 5 pm and it turned out very well for my first attempt at cooking. The menu included:

-Turkey and gravy
-Sweet potato casserole with marshmallows
-Mashed potatoes
-Cranberry Sauce

After letting our dinner settle, we dug into dessert (my favorite part of most meals)!

-Pumpkin Pie
-Chocolate Mousse Trifle (French vanilla cake layered with a cool whip and pudding mixture and topped with crushed Oreos…and repeat)
-Cookie bars

I made enough food for an army, so I’ve been eating leftovers everyday. I think I’ve had enough now.

I’m sad that I didn’t take a full family photo, but I did get a few good ones.

AB just couldn’t hang. 🙂 (Don’t worry, she was not really drinking beer or wine)

Grandses, Annabelle, and Me ❤

It was a great day and I’m now looking forward to a whole lot of Christmas fun.

Family time, sunshine, and lots of food.

Late last night, we arrived home after a fun-filled weekend visiting my brother, SIL, and nieces in Florida. Here is a recap of our trip in pictures. 🙂

Coffee and pedicures! My runner’s feet needed some TLC.

Food and ice cream!

A walk to the park and mini photo shoot. My SIL is a very talented photographer. 🙂 I love this little girl so much.

Sunset before we flew home yesterday. Such beautiful weather.

Such a wonderful weekend. 🙂

A very Merry First Christmas!

We had an absolutely perfect day. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family. Ending the night watching Home Alone with Chris and my parents. Annabelle went to sleep early…she had a very busy day playing with her new toys. 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas!!
