The BEST way to start the day…

I woke up around 7:30 this morning and since everyone else was still sleeping, I got dressed and headed to my happy place.

It was a beautiful morning for an easy 9 mile run…and a bathroom selfie.

After my run, I went to the grocery store (we needed everything but my main motivation was that I wanted to make pancakes) and Starbucks of course.

The rest of the day was spent outside enjoying our warm November weather.

I was hungry for dinner by 4, but I snacked on a banana and pretzels (Trader Joe’s Honey Wheat Pretzels are AMAZING) dipped in almond butter to hold me over.

Dinner was also amazing. Yup, that’s a sweet potato topped with black beans (mixed with taco seasoning), cheese, avocado, and sour cream with mixed veggies on the side.

I wish I could take credit for this amazing combination, but I got the idea from my running partner in crime Jeanette.

Another great combination…yogurt, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce.

A bad run is still a run.

Happy Tuesday! I worked from home today and I headed to the local trail for a run during my lunch break. I love living just a few minutes from the NCR Trail. I haven’t been digging running lately (I guess I am feeling burnout from marathon training for so long), but I headed out today with hopes of having a good run. This run felt TOUGH and I didn’t have “fun”, but I am happy that I was finally able to get in some sub-8 miles. I feel so far from being at the fitness level I was for my last marathon… A bad (feeling) run is still a run.

I refueled with chicken nuggets, brocolli, and cauliflower. It’s just easier to eat what Annabelle eats. 🙂

Tuesday Training Recap: Week of 4/21-4/27

Hi everyone! Here is how training went last week…less than 2 weeks to go now!

Monday:

7 mile tempo run on the NCR Trail. I averaged a 7:29 pace and the last 3 tempo miles were tough! A steady incline plus a head wind = slower pace while putting forth more effort.

Tuesday:

PB Fingers 30 Minute Boot Camp Workout. I loved this quick workout and I did it in my basement during my lunch break. 🙂

Wednesday:

Track workout! It was VERY windy and chilly…again. I keep waiting for these workouts to feel easy and they never do!

8 x 800m with 1:30 RI (rest interval). Our times ranged from 3:12-3:18 for each 800m.

Thursday:

Body Pump class

Friday:

6 easy miles on the treadmill at an 8:34 pace

Saturday:

13 miles on the NCR Trail. It was tough to keep up the speed towards the end, but I got it done with an overall pace of 8:10 per mile.

Rest and eat lots of cupcakes day!

Poor Annabelle got a stuffy nose last night, so she’s a little under the weather today.

We went to breakfast and had to get home in a hurry. This.was.gross.

After her second bath of the day, she and Chris napped and I organized her clothing. I have 5 bins full of clothing that doesn’t fit her anymore and I’m not even finished. If we have another girl in the future, we are set. 🙂

I finally headed out for a run in the late afternoon and this is what I saw as I parked my car at the NCR Trail.

This is a really cool steam train that takes passengers on short rides along the trail. It’s really cool to see in person and I hear it’s sold out for a while!

I headed out and did 8 miles (4 miles out and then turned around for 4 miles) at a little under an 8 minute pace.

I know this “hill” doesn’t look that bad, but it never ends and the steady climb is difficult on tired legs.

I made a pit stop after 8 miles and then headed out for 2 more easy miles at about an 8:30 pace.

Double digit run…check! I also did some incline push ups using a bench…I probably looked really strange.

I don’t mind cold weather runs because I always warm up pretty quickly. However, once I’m done and I cool down…I FREEZE! How do I warm up?

Sitting in a parking lot.

Annabelle has kept her awesome sleeping schedule for a few weeks now and it feels great to sleep in until 8 on the weekends. Years ago sleeping in meant sleeping til noon. LOL.

Thanks to my very helpful mom, I was able to fit in a good run this morning. I went to the NCR trail and did 7 miles at a 7:37 average pace.

It’s been pretty windy lately and of course I had a head wind no matter what direction I ran in.

My mom had a lunch date planned, so Annabelle and I went on a date to Bagel Works. I had eggs, potatoes, and an everything bagel and Annabelle flirted with a 16 month old at the next table. Great, she likes older men. 🙂

After lunch, I drove around trying to find a drive thru Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks…no such luck. I could tell AB was asleep in the back (because she had her feet crossed) and I didn’t want to disturb her.

My mom came home while we were still sitting in the car, so we went to Starbucks and now we are back in the parking lot. Sleepy baby today.
