Sunday Slump

Well, I just could not get myself together today. We woke up pretty early and I made breakfast (pancakes with apples on the side).

I had grand plans to do laundry and go for a long run, but due to zero motivation and an icy, rainy, foggy day, I (ok, all 3 of us) stayed in our pjs all day long. Annabelle played her heart out all day…lots of new toys from her birthday. πŸ˜„

Girlfriend loves chips…just like her daddy.

After eating Chipotle for dinner, I finally got a shower and got back into (clean) pajamas. I’m not proud of this, but this also happened.

PS there is cake under that ice cream.

So basically, I have been in a funk all day and I know that a good workout would have been the best way to get out of it. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day! And the birthday cake is finally gone and I won’t be eating it everyday anymore.

I hope you had a good Sunday!

A few words per picture.

Happy Friday! It’s been a long week and I’m happy to welcome in the weekend. πŸ™‚

I can’t get enough pancakes…

and this loaded sweet potato meal. It really is sooo good.

Last night’s dinner…do you like Brussels sprouts? Annabelle does not.

Our first snowfall of the season.

First hot chocolate and marshmallows of the season. πŸ™‚

It’s been 2 weeks since Halloween and I had my first piece of candy this afternoon. It started with a mini Twix and a mini Milky Way. Next up were these babies…

I ended the candy eating binge with a full size Twix bar. Ugh.

Once I was done working for the day, I spent an hour with Jillian Michaels to balance everything out. Maybe all of that candy will be good fuel for my 20 mile run tomorrow morning???

What’s the best thing you ate today?

Who else is getting up to run in the freezing cold tomorrow? Please come run with me!

The BEST way to start the day…

I woke up around 7:30 this morning and since everyone else was still sleeping, I got dressed and headed to my happy place.

It was a beautiful morning for an easy 9 mile run…and a bathroom selfie.

After my run, I went to the grocery store (we needed everything but my main motivation was that I wanted to make pancakes) and Starbucks of course.

Pancakes with berries and maple chicken sausage πŸ™‚

The rest of the day was spent outside enjoying our warm November weather.

I was hungry for dinner by 4, but I snacked on a banana and pretzels (Trader Joe’s Honey Wheat Pretzels are AMAZING) dipped in almond butter to hold me over.

Dinner was also amazing. Yup, that’s a sweet potato topped with black beans (mixed with taco seasoning), cheese, avocado, and sour cream with mixed veggies on the side.

I wish I could take credit for this amazing combination, but I got the idea from my running partner in crime Jeanette.

Another great combination…yogurt, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce.

When do you like to run/workout/yoga/bike? Morning or evening?

What’s your favorite easy healthy dinner? I need ideas!

Meatless Wednesday and eating healthy at work.

So, I didn’t try to make this a meatless Wednesday, but now that I look back on today’s eats, they are sans meat. (Side note: I remember learning what “sans” meant in Mr. Paul’s English class. He was one of my favorite teachers…along with Ms. Bacon.) <——wow, that was quite the tangent. πŸ™‚

Breakfast was leftover pancakes topped with almond butter and agave nectar. The key to eating leftover pancakes is to reheat them in the toaster. You're welcome.

After a very sweaty and grueling x-fit class (lots of squats, jump squats, burpees, wall sits, push ups), I devoured a veggie burger with cheese and carrots and cucumbers on the side. I also had a Greek yogurt.

My snack was a chocolate brownie and oats bar from Trader Joe’s…it hit the spot.

Annabelle was a super good baby tonight and she let me cook dinner without too many interruptions…and no climbing on the tables/couch/chairs. πŸ™‚ I had Minestrone soup and croissants and it was the perfect rainy night meal.

Annabelle wanted her dinner to be featured as well…chicken nuggets and mixed veggies. πŸ™‚

Even though my day was meatless, I don’t believe it will remain ice cream-less. LOL.
Sometimes it can be really difficult to eat healthy at the work place. This is especially true around the holidays. Here are few tips for keeping healthy eating habits at work.

Eating Healthy at Work

1. Pack breakfast, lunch, and snacks. It is so easy and convenient to stop and get breakfast on the way to work or go out for lunch everyday. However, this can deplete your wallet and add to your waistline. Try to pack meals that are high in protein and good fats and that include lots of fruits and veggies.

2. Plan for special occasions. If you are having a work party or a celebratory lunch with coworkers, make sure to plan really healthy meals for the rest of the day and drink lots of water. Make sure to stop eating when you are full and your leftovers can serve as your dinner or the next day’s lunch.

3. Water! Drink lots of water all day long. Sometimes we confuse thirst for hunger and we eat when we aren’t really hungry. Drinking water is also great for your overall health.

Favorite workday lunch?

How many days a week do you eat meat? How about ice cream? πŸ™‚

At home workouts…and brownies.

I work from home on Fridays and that means a couple of things…I wear my pjs all day and I get to eat something other instant oatmeal for breakfast. Chocolate chip pancakes for the win. πŸ™‚

I just started a new work load and I have been super busy learning everything and the morning flew by. I finally took my lunch around 1 and headed downstairs for an at home workout. I’ve been loving these more and more now that I haven’t been running as much. Today’s workout was Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred (Level 2) and two rounds of this workout I saw on Fitfluential’s Instagram.

It was after 2 by the time I ate lunch and I was starving! I had a veggie burger topped with cheese and served with a side of spinach and carrots. I offered to make Chris lunch and for some reason he didn’t want any… πŸ˜‰

Annabelle helped me close up shop at 4:30 and I finally showered and got out of pjs…and put on sweats. πŸ™‚

Oriole’s Magic and chocolate.

Happy Weekend! If you aren’t a baseball fan and you think the game is slow and boring, tune into the playoffs. The games have been insane! My Baltimore Orioles are making magic and lead the series 2-0. πŸ™‚

We went to Game 1 last night and it was amazing.

Chris’ “official” Cal Car Ripken jersey. πŸ™‚

Chocolate…I had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast…

A hot fudge sundae after dinner (it was very tiny in my opinion)…

And now my kitchen smells like these babies. Yup, those are peanut butter filled chocolate chips. :-))))

Don’t worry, I did manage to fit in a 45 minute Tabata workout today. Fitness Blender on YouTube is my new favorite quick workout to do in my basement. I also washed down all of that chocolate with a healthy lunch. πŸ™‚

Are you a baseball fan? Which team?

Favorite chocolate dessert?

What is your workout for tomorrow??

Memorial Day Weekend So Far!

Hi everybody! I hope you are having a great weekend spending time with family and friends and eating lots of great food. Here are some pictures from my weekend so far. πŸ™‚

New flip flops πŸ™‚

Love her ❀

Pancake breakfast

New workout clothing from Fabletics!

Workout courtesy of Julie. I added in different variations of squats and kicks in between the sets listed here. I also did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Sometimes, it feels really good to sweat.

6 mile run with one of my favorite running buddies. Really missing my marathon training buddy Jeanette though!

I made these beauties for Wilber’s first bday party today! The recipe is on Janae’s blog and they are amazing! PS Wilbur is a dog and unfortunately he could not have any. πŸ˜‰

What’s the best part of your weekend so far???

Thank a veteran this weekend!

I could get used to this.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today is another snow day! Did I really shovel for 3 hours yesterday or was I dreaming?!?!?

A big thank you to our neighbor who came to the rescue with a snow blower. πŸ™‚

I could really get used to being at home all day. It’s so fun to make breakfast and hang out with Annabelle (and Chris) all morning.

Blueberry multi-grain pancakes (Tip: add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon for a more flavorful pancake)

Annabelle did the cutest thing this morning. Right before Sesame Street started (I have no idea how she knew it was coming on), she sat in her chair and bounced around with excitement. Love her <3.

We ate breakfast pretty early, so I was ready for lunch before noon. I went with a classic pb and j with pop chips and a pear.

Once Annabelle went down for her nap and Chris was at the store, I sat down and relaxed with a good friend…Godiva.

I’m hoping to get to the gym and RUN later today. I need some endorphins in a bad way. πŸ™‚

What are your plans tonight?

Do you like V Day or do you think it’s overrated?

A long run followed by two breakfasts.

I woke up bright and early at 5:30 yesterday morning. Yes I could have slept in as long as I wanted to (AB was having a sleepover with my parents.), but it was long run time! The only thing that really got me out of bed was that Jeanette was waiting for me. We headed out at 7 and planned to run for about 2 hours. We ended with about 14.5 miles and I was very happy when it was over and I got feeling back in my fingers. πŸ™‚

After our run, we said hi to Jeanette’s miniature horses and goats.Β  πŸ™‚

Jeanette’s husband Todd was nice enough to make us a hot breakfast. We had toast with homemade hot pepper jelly, eggs (FRESH eggs from their chickens!), tomatoes, and feta cheese. This was seriously one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.

Jeanette’s daughter makes the jelly and I was so happy to go home with two jars, hot pepper and strawberry.

I called Chris on the way home and he mentionedΒ wanting to getΒ foodΒ and I couldn’t turn down a second breakfast. Since I already had toast and eggs, I went with blueberry pancakes!
I wore my Pro Compression socks for the run (and hours afterwards) and you could definitely tell they were “compressing.” Look at those indentations!

I hope you have a fabulous Sunday!

Did you run this weekend?Β  Long or short?

Eggs and toast or pancakes/waffles?

Have you ever seen a miniature horse?

Another pajamas and snow day.

I’m starting to think we won’t see the grass again until Spring. It’s snowing for the third time this week and it doesn’t show signs of stopping…and I wish I had some corn for popping. LOL.

Chris was at work today, so me and Annabelle had a big girl’s day.

Breakfast: leftover chocolate chip pancakes (from my office party) topped with sliced banana and maple syrup and coffee!

Lunch: chicken salad with cranberries, walnuts, and apples on a potato roll with a side of pretzel crisps.

Nap: Annabelle fought sleep for a while, but now she has been passed out for over 2 hours. πŸ™‚ This is how I found her when she woke up this morning.

Exciting Mail! The nice folks at Hanes sent me a bunch of running gear from Target’s Champion C9 line. I can’t wait to try it out once this snow stops!

Since it’s a winter wonderland outside, I may do a workout in the basement to get my sweat on. My workout will probably be followed by lots of chocolate. πŸ™‚

Did you get snow today?

What was your workout today?
