I ran…and I ran…and I ran.

On the running front, I had a pretty great summer, fall, and winter. ย ๐Ÿ™‚

August 2015

In August, I had the wonderful opportunity to run Ragnar Colorado. ย I had never been to Colorado and running 200 miles from Copper to Aspen with 11 amazing people = the best thing ever.

October 2015

Jeanette and I checked the Chicago Marathon off of the bucket list in October. ย We went with one goal…have fun and enjoy the race! ย We did just that and it was absolutely amazing.

September 2015

I ran the Via Marathon this past September and it was one of the worst races of my life. ย I wasย trying for a BQ (sub 3:35) and I ended up with a 4 hour plus finish. ย I had a much better race back in 2014.

October 2015

A fun little 5k pushing Annabelle in the jogging stroller. ย Running with the stroller and a heavy toddler is no joke.

November 2015

This was definitely the highlight of my running in 2015. ย I’m not sure how we did it, but my friends Woody, Pryce, and I completed our first 50 MILER. ย Yes, 50 miles! ย Woody and Pryce killed it and finished in the 10 hour range and I finished in 11 hours and 52 minutes. ย To be an official finisher, you had to finish in under 12 hours. ย I’m glad I gave myself a few minutes to spare. ย ๐Ÿ˜‰

February 2016

Kate and I ran the Disney Princess Half Marathon and had a magical time. ย This was Kate’s first half marathon and she did so great…and she loved it so much that she signed up for another one.

March 2016

I ran the HAT 50k and it was as fun and challenging as last year. ย This was my friend Wendy’s first 50k and she did such an amazing job.

ย ย

So, what’s next you ask? ย

Coastal Delaware Marathon on April 24th!

A bad run is usually followed by a good run.ย

So, I’m in the middle of marathon training and I have had some BAD runs. What makes a run bad to me?  A.  Not hitting goal times  B.  Feeling horrible throughout the run  C.  Feeling down or in a running funk. Well, I’ve had a few too many of these runs lately.

Last week’s track workout included 2 x 1200m and 4 x 800m. I was getting over a cold and just could not get anywhere near the goal times. I even shortened 2 of the 800s to 400s. Bad run!

This past Tuesday, I set out for a tempo run and couldn’t manage one mile at tempo pace. It was hot and humid and I was tired. Bad run!

But alas, this 20 miler came along and many of the miles were at goal pace (under 9:00 minute miles) and I had some gas left in the tank at the end!  Good run!!!!

Maybe my new shirt from Janae at http://www.hungryrunnergirl.com helped me get through this one. She is so speedy and an awesome person. โ˜บ๏ธ

Happy Saturday and I hope you have a good run this weekend!

Last really good run?  This 20 miler!

Favorite treat after a long run?  A big iced coffee and an egg sandwich (or a donut) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sunday Funday!

It’s been a super long time since I’ve posted. To my loyal readers (Rob, Mom, Dad, and Aunt Janice), I am sorry. ๐Ÿ˜‰  In case you are new here, my name is Linda and I love my family, running, and ice cream. I’m currently training for a September marathon and hope to qualify for Boston. Please stick around!                                   ———————————————–

This weekend was a good one filled with lots my favorite things…

Running!  16 miles on Saturday morning. Jeanette and I averaged a 9 minute pace and it was awesome.

Napping!  Saturday afternoon nap with my favorite little girl.

Ice cream!  This was my first time trying this brand. I planned on just having a few bites. A few bites = the whole pint.

Snacks!  I’ve been on a serious popcorn kick lately.  Ya know, I need the salty to balance out the sweet.

Family fun day!  I bought Chris super good tickets to the Oriole’s game for Father’s Day. We had such a good time.

(As seen on my Instagram lindarunning4two)

Now that I’ve watched Big Brother (anybody else love this show), ate my weight in ice cream, and stayed up way too late, I NEED to go to bed. I woke up with a weird hip/butt/IT band issue going on and really really really hope it starts feeling better tomorrow. Please cross your fingers and toes for me.

Good night!

Stories from my iPhone…and ice cream.

Hi guys! ย I’ve been totally lame sauce and I’m sorry about that. I’m trying really hard to get out of this funk and I think some sunny Spring weather is just what the doctor orders. PLEASE bring on the warm weather. Pretty please.

Since I need the pictures from my phone to actually remember what’s been going on, I’ve uploaded a bunch for a trip down memory lane.

Sweaty selfie after an at home workout I did in the living room while Annabelle ate lunch. ย She thinks burpees are hilarious and we practice counting as I do them. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Poor baby was having some tummy troubles last weekend. Toddlers and tummy trouble = absolutely terrible.

Eating chocolate Teddy Grahams at 9 am. Thanks Daddy.

Snow day breakfast of pancakes, turkey sausage, and strawberries.

Lots of snow…about 11 inches.

Chris and I had a rare dinner out last Friday (thanks Carrie!!!) and we enjoyed salmon, tuna, bread pudding, and flourless chocolate cake. ๐Ÿ˜

Annabelle rocking her Maryland onsie from Uncle Gren and Aunt Janice. Go Terps!

Avocado omlette = perfect post long run meal

A perfect Sunday morning run with two of my awesome Ragnar teammates. Thanks for coming up Woody and Pryce!

I love seeing double digits on my Garmin.

Banana, oats, and chocolate chip cookies. ๐Ÿ˜€

Homemade ice cream cake just sounded like a good idea today.

THE LAYERS!!!

1. Chocolate fudge (chocolate chips melted into some vanilla almond milk)

2. ย Crushed oreos

3. Red velvet cake ice cream

4. Chocolate fudge

5. Vanilla fudge ice cream

6. Cool whip

7. Sprinkles

Even though I wanted to eat it as soon as I made it, I waited until after dinner. ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Post workout selfie…because you really needed to see my sweaty face. ย PS Somebody please tell me how to fix my crow’s feet. ย I did Jillian MIchael’s 30 day Shred Level 2 followed by 2 rounds of the At Home Jumping Jacks Circuit Workout. ย On the second round I made a few substitutions to switch things up a little bit (burpess instead of tuck jumps, tricep dips in place of tricep pushups, and leg lifts in place of bicycle crunches).ย Dinner = leftover chicken mixed with veggies topped with shredded cheddar cheese. ย Everything it better with a side of sweet potato fries.

Yup, I ate this huge chunk that is missing.

What is the best dessert you have ever had?

Best workout last week?

If you are in a funk too, I’m sorry.

Chipotle Night!

Today was a normal Wednesday in the life of a working mama. I got up at 6:00 (after snoozing a few too many times), showered, and headed to my happy place before heading to work. My happy place = Starbucks. I tried the new Tiramasu Latte with nonfat milk and whipped cream. It was good, but I will probably stick to my normal choices.

After my lovely 1 1/2 hour commute, I checked my email and dug into my overnight oats. I haven’t made this in a long time and it was well overdue.

IMG_7104

I worked for a few more hours, answered a dozen of phone calls, and got hung up on once. It was nice little morning. Around noon, Jeanette and I headed outside for a glorious 6.83 mile run. While we had to dodge some snow and ice covered roads and sidewalks, the sun was shining and the temps were balmy (30 degrees!).

IMG_7106

Lunch was leftovers from last night’s dinner. I think it actually tasted better today than it did last night. Spoiler alert: This will be my lunch tomorrow too. I also had a Yoplait Greek Whipped Yogurt and it was a nice change from the traditional kind.

IMG_7105

IMG_7107

While I was slaving away at work, my mom sent me this beauty. How rude! ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_7108

My afternoon snack was a banana with a side of almond butter on plates leftover from my baby shower over 2 years ago. I should really quit my day job to be a food photographer.

IMG_7109

Dinner was you guessed, Chipotle! Ever since Chris has been off work on Wednesday nights, I’ve been picking up Chipotle for dinner. I’m always excited to eat it, but man does it feel like a rock in my stomach now.

IMG_7110

We usually end Chipotle night with fro yo, but it’s going on 9 pm now and they close in a few minutes. Looks like I will have to settle for something from my stash while Chris and I watch some Law and Order: SUV (you Sopranos fans out there will know why we call it SUV instead of SVU). What to choose?? Red velvet oreos, white fudge oreos, Reese’s Hearts, peanut M&Ms, Hershey’s Hugs. I do have ice cream in the fridge, but that is the last thing I ate before I got sick on Saturday night and I may never eat that ice cream again.

What time did you wake up this morning?

What kind of job do you have? Customer Service, cube life, service industry?

Almond butter or peanut butter?

Florida in February

Florida in February is awesome. ๐Ÿ˜„

I woke up early last Friday morning and ran 7 easy miles on the treadmill followed by the 8 minute abs video….followed by a stop for the good stuff.

IMG_7038
After a quick workday, Annabelle and I headed to the airport. A few hours later, we were in the Sunshine State!

IMG_7040
Saturday morning, I went to a boot camp class with my mom, brother, and sister in law. I always go when I’m in town and I LOVE it. We enjoyed breakfast outside afterwards and it was great to soak up some sunshine.

IMG_7041

IMG_7042
The rest of the day was spent getting manis and pedis and driving with the top down. ๐Ÿ˜‰

IMG_7047
Sunday was a gorgeous day, so we headed to Cocoa Beach. Sunny and 75 in February…yes please.

IMG_7057
Annabelle absolutely loves the water and insisted on staying by the water and collecting sea shells. ๐Ÿ˜

IMG_7058

IMG_7059
I LOVE this picture of Annabelle, Poppy, and Uncle Disney.

IMG_7086
We left the beach, had dinner (Annabelle loves to take chips from the basket and take a bite and put it back), and headed home to shower and eat dessert. My mom tested out her new blow dryer…

IMG_7060
Dessert was Blue Bell ice cream. We don’t have this in PA and I must eat large quantities when I visit Florida.

IMG_7062

IMG_7064
Monday was a relaxing day…first breakfast at First Watch and then we spent some time at the playground. My dad has tons of pictures from the playground but I don’t have them yet. ๐Ÿ˜’

The weather turned rainy in the afternoon, so my mom and I headed to the gym. She ellipticalled and I treadmilled. Yup, neither of those are words but I’m using them anyway. I think my treadmill may have been broken because I did the following workout and it felt really good.

2 miles at 8:35 pace
5 miles at 7:30 pace
1/2 mile at 8:35 pace

We finished our workouts with the 8 minute abs video.

John and Emmy were nice enough to make us dinner that night (taco salads) and it was great to just hang out and talk.

Tuesday was another relaxing day, but it carried a dark cloud since we were heading home that evening. ๐Ÿ˜” After breakfast, my mom and I walked to her condo gym and completed this workout from Julie.

IMG_7087
It was a great workout and I was sore the next day.

After showering and packing up, we went to a local BBQ joint by my parent’s house. The food is amazing and everything comes with huge pieces of garlic bread. I wish I had taken pictures but I was busy keeping a toddler in her seat. ๐Ÿ˜œ We arrived at the airport early enough for my parents to come in and for Annabelle to run around a bit. We said goodbye and it keeps getting harder and harder. I always get sympathetic looks from the TSA agents who check my boarding pass and ID while I’m sucking back tears.

It was a great trip and I can’t wait to plan my next visit. The plane trip was pretty uneventful except for having to change AB’s diaper in the bathroom. Those things are not made for 2 year olds.

Do you live near your family?

What’s the last vacation you took?

Throwback Thursday

Since I was MIA for a little while, this post is throwing all the way back to last week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s what I’ve been up to! PS I have to look back at my pictures to remember what I’ve been up to.

What have you been up to?!?!?

10 miles of ice skating

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great start to your week! Since I had off for MLK day, I started the day with a 10 mile run with my running friends from work. I love these people. ๐Ÿ™‚

2015/01/img_6901.jpg
We ran/ice skated for 10 miles on the NCR Trail. This trail, which is usually a compacted gravel trail, was covered in ice. We had to run on the grassy areas on the sides of the trail and definitely had to pay attention to our footing. Due to the conditions, we had to run pretty slow in parts, but we did have a few miles where we could pick up the pace a little. It was a great run with great company. ๐Ÿ˜Š

2015/01/img_6899.jpg
I refueled with a spinach and cheese omlette with an English muffin on the side.

2015/01/img_6897.jpg
A little while later, I did this 8 minute abs video that Janae always talks about. It was really good!

The rest of the day was spent relaxing on the couch with my favorite little girl…

2015/01/img_6898.jpg
…and shopping for the world’s strangest and largest sweet potato.

2015/01/img_6900.jpg
Now that Annabelle is in bed, I’m watching The Bachelor. I’m not usually one to watch this show, but I just kind of fell upon it last week and it stuck. Oh yeah, I might also eat some cookies. ๐Ÿ˜„

What was your workout today? Was it a good one?

Do you watch The Bachelor? Would you ever want to be on a show like this??

A really good run and a really good Apple.

Happy Friday! This has been one busy week and I am so glad the weekend is here. I am happy to report that Annabelle is behaving like an angel (well, mostly) and now asks for her cup instead of a bottle. She also falls asleep after crying for only a few minutes and sleeps all night. This makes for a happy baby in the morning. #winning

2015/01/img_6877.jpg
I don’t know if it was my pancake and chicken maple sausage breakfast or my new running tights, but today’s run felt great. I set out to do at least 6 and had to fight the cold wind the whole time, but I ended with 8.10 miles. My route was pretty hilly, so I was happy to get in a few miles in the low 8’s. It just felt good to run today.

2015/01/img_6878.jpg
After refueling with a sweet potato topped with black beans, cheese, and avocado, I had an apple (and this was a GOOD apple) with peanut butter. I’ve been eating almond butter lately and I must say, it was good to eat some old fashioned peanut butter.

2015/01/img_6880.jpg
I also spent some time listening to the Serial podcast. Have you guys heard of this? I read a number of other bloggers talk about it, so I decided to listen. I had no idea the story takes place right where I work.

The rest of the evening was spent taking selfies and eating pizza.

2015/01/img_6882.jpg
Now it’s time to watch Shark Tank and eat some cake and ice cream! We are still celebrating AB’s birthday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great Friday night!

Do you watch Shark Tank? If so, who is your favorite shark?

Robert!

A long, hot, steamy shower…

…is the only way I warm up after a cold winter run. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I didn’t head out until close to 2 pm today and I didn’t really have a plan or a set number of miles in mind. It was so warm out (read: 30 degrees) and perfect running weather. Well, almost perfect…we had some wind, but it wasn’t bad unless I was in the shade.

I started off with a little over a mile warmup and then headed to a hilly neighborhood to do some hill work. I did 6 hill repeats and it was TOUGH. PS I ran up each hill as fast as I could and then did an easy jog back down. I really wanted to do 10 hill repeats, but I only had the energy for 6.

I continued my run and ended up with 10 glorious miles. I even met a nice man walking his dog and we talked running and races. He suggested the Disney races and I think I’ll have to do the Dopey Challenge next year. ๐Ÿ™‚

2015/01/img_6854.jpg
After a long hot shower, I downed a salad and pizza. I will def eat some dessert later.
———————————–
Baby Update: Annabelle went to bed at 8:30 and only cried for 10 MINUTES! She was asleep by 8:45 and slept until 7:30. It was a miracle!!!! Day 3 of no bottle has also been a success. She even ate 3 decent meals today. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a happy mama.

If you need me, I’ll be spending the evening on the couch. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What was the favorite part of your weekend?
