Workouts, eats, and sweets.

And another weekend has come and gone… I wish I could say that I did something really fun or exciting this weekend, but I only really left the house to go to the gym and I didn’t wear anything but sweats and pjs. Anyway…here’s a recap of my workouts, eats, and sweets.

10 mile treadmill run – Miles 1-4 at an 8:35 pace, miles 5-10 alternating between 7:35 and 8:35.

I didn’t have a lot of time, so I did a 27 minute Fitness Blender cardio workout (I can’t remember which one it was now).

6 mile treadmill run at an 8:35 pace

15 minutes stair climber on fat burner level 14 (this was not fun)

15 minutes elliptical on random setting level 13 (hard effort using more arms than legs)

Friday morning pancakes…blueberries inside and strawberries outside.

Fun fact: Annabelle LOVES blueberries and she will eat an entire container in one sitting if you let her.

Working from home = pjs and Starbucks (Chris is nice enough to always go get me one :))

Chicken salad with almonds on a pretzel roll…bbq chips on the side.

Annabelle’s dinner: chicken, strawberries, and cucumbers

Well, after lunch on Friday lots of candy happened. I probably ate about 8-10 Hershey’s Hugs and one Resse’s Peanut Butter Heart. I think this may have attibuted to my tummy troubles during and after my 10 mile run that evening.

And it wouldn’t be a weekend in my life without some of the good stuff…this bowl was filled with two kinds of Ben and Jerry’s (Milk and Cookies and Half Baked).

Random Weekend Pics

We finally got a decent sized snow storm. It started around 10 am on Saturday and didn’t stop until sometime during the night.

The weather was beautiful on Sunday…sunny and close to 40 degrees. 40 degrees compared to sub zero temperatures = summer time. Everyone was out and about without coats on. I even got my chai latte iced to celebrate the day. Don’t worry, we are back to winter tomorrow with a low of 1 degree. Awesome.

My love 🙂

What was the best thing you ate this weekend?

Best workout?

Are you watching the Oscars tonight?

Sentence per picture.

This is been a very busy work week and I’m so ready for the weekend! Since I’m exhausted, here’s a lazy (but thrilling) post. 🙂

Yesterday’s yummy breakfast.

Last night (and tonight’s) dinner. I really love BBQ chicken pizza.

Last night (and tonight’s and every other night) dessert. I just can’t stop dessert…I need an intervention.

My favorite little girl. ❤

Face mask…I just realized this is still on and it’s been on for way too long.

Snow day for Annabelle and Molly!

Enjoy your Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving and my mom’s first 5k!!!

Hi everyone! I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving (if you celebrate :-)) with family and friends and I hope you ate lots of great good! We had a super fun time over here with my family.

We had a mini snow storm on Wednesday, so I decided to stay home from work and use my extra time to prep for Thanksgiving. This was my first year actually cooking, so it was nice to get a head start.

I made sweet potato casserole, a chocolate mousse trifle, cookie bars, and dressing. It was so nice to have all of this done prior to Thursday.

A white Thanksgiving Eve.

My parents flew in on Wednesday evening and I was SO HAPPY to see them. By the time we got home and got Annabelle settled down, it was after 1 am and we were exhausted.

We didn’t let sleep deprivation and freezing temps keep us from the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. My mom and I woke up and headed down the road to run a chilly 5k. The original plan was for me to run it and then back track to find my mom (who would be walking) once I finished. Well, she sure surprised me! I finished in about 24 minutes and headed back out to find her. It didn’t take long before I found her. She had decided to run instead of walk and she was already in her third mile! Since she had planned on walking, she was wearing a big winter hat and a long down coat AND carrying our packets! Even with all of that weighing her down, she ran her first 5k and finished in about 41 minutes. I am beyond proud. 🙂

After a stop for Starbucks and donuts, we headed home to shower and get the turkey in the oven. The day was made extra special because my Aunt Janice and Uncle Gren came over for a visit and it was sooo nice to see them. 🙂

We finally ate around 5 pm and it turned out very well for my first attempt at cooking. The menu included:

-Turkey and gravy
-Sweet potato casserole with marshmallows
-Mashed potatoes
-Cranberry Sauce

After letting our dinner settle, we dug into dessert (my favorite part of most meals)!

-Pumpkin Pie
-Chocolate Mousse Trifle (French vanilla cake layered with a cool whip and pudding mixture and topped with crushed Oreos…and repeat)
-Cookie bars

I made enough food for an army, so I’ve been eating leftovers everyday. I think I’ve had enough now.

I’m sad that I didn’t take a full family photo, but I did get a few good ones.

AB just couldn’t hang. 🙂 (Don’t worry, she was not really drinking beer or wine)

Grandses, Annabelle, and Me ❤

It was a great day and I’m now looking forward to a whole lot of Christmas fun.

I’m still here!…and why do guys do this?

Hi everybody! I’m sure you were missing my daily recaps of eat, work, run, eat ice cream, and repeat…don’t worry, I’m back. 🙂 I sure missed you guys.

Annabelle and I got sick over the weekend, so when you combine sickness and a sick baby and no sleep, there isn’t much time for anything else. Thankfully, I think we are all on the mend now.

Let’s recap the past few days…

Friday, Valentine’s Day

Jillian Michael’s workout

Quiet dinner with Chris and Annabelle…I made BBQ chicken in the crockpot and served mashed sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts on the side.

Dinner (grilled cheese with strawberry jelly)

I started feeling sick that night. 😦

Sick. Slept most of the day and then just hung out on the couch. 😦

Relaxed and then I thought some activity would make me feel better, so I did another Jillian workout. I even showered…it was the first time since Friday evening. Yes, I’m gross but I was sick.

Back to work after being off two days for snow, 2 days for the weekend, and one day for the holiday. I managed to get in a 6 mile run, but it was TOUGH.

1 mile warmup
2 miles at 8:00
2 miles at 7:30
1 mile at 8:00

The guy running on the treadmill next to me kept blowing his nose…into his shirt. Why do guys do this when a bathroom is steps away? Get some toilet paper please!

I wasn’t really hungry afterwards, but I ate a salad of grilled chicken and raw veggies.

I hope you guys are having a happy and healthy week so far. 🙂

When was the last time you were sick?

Have you ever done a Jillian Michael’s workout?

The best gym selfie.

Even though I had off work today, my day started bright and early at 6:30. Annabelle has not been sleeping well because of her cold, so that means none of us are sleeping well. I feel like a zombie.

The best way to fight sleepiness, an egg and cheese bagel sandwich and a coffee.

Since I ran 10 miles yesterday, I made today a cross-training day and headed to the gym.

Today’s Workout
– 30 minutes on the elliptical
– 15 minutes on the bike
– 2000 meters on the rowing machine
– 1:00 minute side plank (1 per side)
– 3:00 minute plank

I’ve decided my best selfies block out my face. 🙂 I’m not sure what I was taking a picture of, but my hair looks really dirty dark and I LOVE that headband. You can get it here!

The rest of the night included dinner with my parents and hanging with Burrito (Annabelle’s nickname).

Oh yea, I’m almost forgot about this. 🙂

Here’s hoping for a snow day tomorrow! I could really use some extra sleep.

Are you expecting snow tomorrow?

What’s your favorite running accessory?

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

In case you haven’t heard, it’s snowing in the North East. We aren’t getting anywhere near what New York and Massachusetts are getting, but it’s coming down.

It took me an hour and a half to get to my parent’s house after work and since I didn’t feel like making dinner, I stopped at Poulet Chicken for take out.

My mom and I had BBQ chicken, mixed veggies, and sweet potato tots (this picture looks terrible but the food really is super good).

Annabelle didn’t take a nap today, so she was so ready for bed when I finally got home. Poppy is the baby whisperer and he gets her to sleep every time. 🙂

Since AB and I are sleeping over, I’m in my pjs watching tv with my mom…and eating cookies. Added bonus: my work has a 2 hour delay tomorrow!

Have a great night!

Is it snowing in your area?

Favorite cookie?

SNOW Day…and shopping!

AB sleeping update:  She slept from 8 pm to 5:45 am the other night!  It was so amazing!  She did not repeat that last night…

We woke up to a winter wonderland yesterday…just a reminder, it is officially Spring time.  Even though most people were not happy about the snow, I know two pretty ladies that were delighted!

020 007 010

Morgan and Kenzie live in a magical place that is almost always warm and sunny, so this was their first time seeing snow!

While Kenzie, Emmy, my mom, and I decided to hit the mall, Morgan took full advantage of the snow and went tubing with some of my family.  She had a great time!

021 022

Before we went to the mall, I did a little workout of the day (WOD) in the basement.  It looked like this:

Warmup (repeat 3 times)

50 jumping jacks

50 jogs

30 Heismans

30 1-2-3’s

50 butt kicks

50 high knees

Workout (repeat 3 times)

10 walking pushups

20 burpeees

20 squat jumps

20 in and out abs

20 belt kicks

20 tricep dips

Plank (hold for as long as possible)

It was a great workout and I definitely worked up a sweat.

When we finally got to the mall, we were all pretty hungry.  We decided on the Cheesecake Factory for lunch.  They have a whole menu with “Skinnylicious” items and there was a lot to choose from.  I ordered the turkey and avocado sandwich with a green salad and swapped half of my sandwich with my mom for some of her chinese chicken salad.  It was all very good.

and then this happened…

I decided that I like cake way better than cheesecake, so I ate the chocolate cake layers and left the cheesecake ones.  Since I didn’t eat it all, it really doesn’t count right?  😉

We did a lot of shopping and I ended up getting a few of the same shirts as Emmy and Kenzie.  Emmy and I are super excited to be twinners, but I’m not sure Kenzie is excited to be twins with her 30 year old Aunt.  My mom bought Annabelle some summer time essentials…

017 023

They are big on her now, but she will be so stylish for next baseball season!!!  🙂

I bought this stuff from Victoria’s Secret.  Have any of you tried it?

What do you think?

Snow:  Pretty or inconvenience?

Do you like to shop?

Most of the time, but some days I’m just not into it.

Do you like cheesecake?

Not as much as I used to.

Cut and color, SNOW, and food

Yesterday afternoon Chris and I continued our Insanity journey.  We have done each of the workouts in month one, so now they repeat for the first 30 days with one rest day built in.  Today is the scheduled rest day, but I really don’t feel like resting…  I will give a recap of the first 30 days once we get there!

After the workout, I ate a very fast lunch, fed Annabelle, and then headed to get my hair trimmed and highlighted.

It has been quite some time since I had it highlighted and it really needed it.  I also got some bangs cut because I have a huge forehead and a receeding hairline :-/.  I really love the color but I’m not in love with my bangs.  They are definitely too short and not what I envisioned.  After my hair appointment, AB and I went to visit Chris at work and have dinner.  I had a turkey wrap and sweet potato fries.

This morning we woke up to a winter wonderland and it is still coming down strong.

For breakfast I took a second try at making OMG Pancakes…a recipe from Carrots and Cake.  I’m just not great at making edible pancakes, at least that is Chris’ opinion.  I made a huge batch this morning and Molly and I enjoyed them…lucky for us we have leftovers for tomorrow.

I decided to fire up the crockpot for dinner tonight.  In the mix:  sweet potato, corn, black beans, kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, chicken, and vegetable stock.  I also added some cumin, oregano, and a rosemary spice rub.

Let’s hope this turns out better than the pancakes!

What do you think?

Snow:  fun or inconvenient?

Have you ever not been happy with a haircut?

How often do you use a crockpot?
