A farewell run and the best afternoon snack.

This morning’s breakfast was hot oatmeal with strawberries. I haven’t had hot oatmeal in forever and it hit the spot.

For some reason, oatmeal does not hold me over as much as other things I eat for breakfast…strange, I know.

One of my very close running buddies is retiring and today was his last day. A few of us went on a leisurely 4.5 mile run to say goodbye and get one last run in. We will still see him often, but we will miss him during our lunch runs.

Me, Serge, and Jeanette 🙂

I hopped on a treadmill afterwards and finished with 7 easy miles for the day.
My lunch was a big salad that included mixed greens, spinach, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, chicken meatballs, baked croutons, and guacamole. I’ll be eating the exact same thing for lunch tomorrow and I’m totally ok with that.

I worked through the afternoon and was more than ready for a snack around 4:30. Man, was this a good one. Cookies + yogurt = genius. If you need an otherwise healthy snack made into a dessert, I’m your girl. 🙂

Dinner was a turkey and ham sub from Subway and you all know dessert is coming soon!

Do you mostly run alone or with a group of people?

Favorite yogurt topping?

If you don’t take Body Pump regularly…

you will be sore every time. I took a class during lunch yesterday and my inner thighs and my chest/arms are really feeling it today. I definitely challenge myself each time and if I don’t go on a consistent basis, I am sore for days! In order to help my running and my overall strength, I’m trying to take classes twice a week from now on. 🙂
Rewind to breakfast yesterday. I had overnight oats with sliced bananas. You can make overnight oats a ton of different ways, but this is what I do.

Overnight Oats

1. Pour 1/2 cup of oatmeal into a container.
2. Add 1 cup of vanilla almond milk.
3. Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
4. Cover and leave in fridge overnight.
5. Add fruit and granola in the morning and enjoy!

I was famished by the time Body Pump was over (anybody else get super hungry after weight training?). I ate an almond butter and strawberry jam sandwich and a blueberry Chobani.

Later in the afternoon I snacked on two clementines and I ate yogurt covered raisins on my drive home from work. Snacks make the commute so much better!

On the way home I picked up Subway for dinner. I went with a turkey and ham salad and I had some pita chips on the side.

Annabelle finally fell asleep around 9:30 and I ate some “healthy” dessert while watching Dance Moms. Lucky for me she woke up right as I was getting into bed. Good thing she is so darn cute. 🙂

What did you eat for breakfast today?

How many hours of sleep do you average per night? If I get 6 hours, I consider myself lucky.

Snow Day!

Yesterday was a relaxing day at home. Our area got enough snow for my work to close, so I spent the day home with Chris and Annabelle. I stayed in my pajamas all day long.

Breakfast: pancakes!

Productivity: I finally ordered our Christmas cards!

Lunch: the snow stopped in the afternoon and Chris went out to get Subway. I was starving and devoured it as soon as he got home.

Snack: peanut m&ms

Dinner of champions: a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios followed by a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats. The second bowl was necessary because I had milk leftover from the first bowl. 🙂

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with Molly and Annabelle. Girl LOVES the remote and she is always finding new Direct TV features that I didn’t know existed. She has also been recording random shows.

Everybody finally settled down and went to sleep at 9:30. How cute is this?

I set the DVR for the VS Fashion Show and headed to bed. It was pretty easy getting ready for bed since I never got out of my pjs. 🙂

Did you get snow yesterday?

Favorite type of m&ms?

I love Subway and my foam roller.

Yesterday in bullet points…exciting I know. 😉

• 5.6 mile run (easy 8:35 pace) and a 3:30 minute plank.

• This Zone Bar was amazing. I don’t know if I was just really hungry, but I kept saying to myself, “this is so good!”

• Lunch: Goat cheese frittata with sweet potato and mango hash.

• Dinner: Subway (turkey, spinach, tomato, cucumber, salt and pepper, light mayo) and pretzel chips. Subway is great. I buy a footlong and eat half for dinner and save half for lunch the next day. After working 9 hours and spending about 3 hours in the car each day, it’s great to have an easy and healthy choice for dinner.

• Late night fun: Annabelle was wide awake until about 10:15 last night, but we enjoyed some cuddle time once she got sleepy. We also watched most of the Sound of Music. Anybody else watch it?

• Pain in the butt! Literally. After my run, I was feeling some pain in my right cheek and it was pretty uncomfortable. Right before a race, really!?!?!? I foam rolled and it feels pretty good today. Fingers crossed it feels good tomorrow.

• Friday morning selfie.

I hope this workday flies by! We are heading to the beach tonight and getting pizza…my favorite meal to eat the night before a race. 🙂

Have a great Friday!
What are your weekend plans?

Anybody racing??

A long rainy commute

I woke up bright and early (4:30) yesterday to beat the potential wintry weather. The “weather” didn’t start until later in the day and it only ended up being rain…lots of cold windy rain.

Breakfast! Lemon Zest Luna Bar

I’ve been on a lemon kick lately…if you haven’t tried these yet, do so immediately.

Workout! Body pump class and 2 easy miles on the treadmill. I had one of those really good classes…heart rate up, sweaty, and fun!

Lunch! Almond butter and strawberry preserves sandwich, yogurt, and yogurt covered raisins (I ate these as a snack later).

Commute! I spent some quality time with my car yesterday. I left work at 4 and got home a little after 6. Thankfully, I had yogurt covered raisins to keep me occupied.

Dinner! I picked up Subway for me and my dad. I really didn’t want to get out of the car.

I’m addicted to bags of all kinds and my new Thirty One Weekender bag came yesterday. It’s super cute and very roomy. 🙂

Are you addicted to buying anything? Purses? Shoes? Running clothing? All of the above??

Yesterday’s run was pretty awesome. I warmed up for about 2 miles and then went hard for 4 miles. Take a look at mile 5…6:59! That’s a first for me :-).

Running agenda for this weekend…long slow run.

Lunch was the Mayan Harvest Bake Kashi meal. It has sweet potatoes and plantains, so what’s not to like? I know this will come as a shock to you, but dinner was Subway! I bought a footlong and ate half for dinner and saved the rest for lunch today. I’m starting to feel like Jarred.

This afternoon, I am flying to North Carolina to visit my BFF Lauren! I haven’t seen her since March and I can’t wait to spend the weekend with her and her husband Rob. PS he is my number one fan. 🙂

Yup, this is me and Lauren in our Halloween costumes, probably about to go trick or treating, probably in high school… Just in case you were wondering, the cat was added at a later date.

Here is another old school picture for your Friday morning.

That’s me of course (great shot of Lauren in the background)…I had one of those jaw adjusters and if made a HUGE gap in my two front teeth. Needless to say, 7th grade was an awkward year. I’ll give you one guess as to what that strap hanging from my butt is…

So we are only going for the weekend, but packing for a baby is not easy! I brought everything I thought we would need and it looks like we are going on a week long trip.

The night concluded with compression socks, cookies, and a Ravens game slaughter. 😦

This work day should be super fun. I was only in bed for 5 hours and Annabelle was up 3 times. A large coffee is in my future.

Happy Friday!

What are your weekend plans?

What’s with the auto pause??

Yesterday at work, I plugged in my Garmin so it would be ready for my lunch time run.

Once I got outside, found the satellites, and hit start, my Garmin auto paused after one second. I could not figure out how to fix it, and had to run without it :-(. How do I turn this setting off???? Anyways, my friend Serge and I did 6.3 miles at around an 8:10 pace. It was a beautiful day for a run.

After I got back to my desk, I had a lunch of champions…Mac and cheese and yogurt with granola.

I went wild for dinner and got Subway. It’s Subtember and you can get most foot longs for $5! I went with ham and turkey with spinach, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

Annabelle had her favorite dinner of banana and pumpkin. 🙂

After dinner, me, AB, and Molly took a walk around the neighborhood. Annabelle is finally starting to enjoy the Baby Bjorn.

The evening ended with a blogger video call and 2 Subway chocolate chip cookies. Oh yea, and since Annabelle was up half the night, I watched Big Brother at 4:30 this morning.

How do I fix my Garmin?

What kind of sub do you get from Subway?

An evening run…and possible injury.

Today’s schedule was a little thrown off…Chris had a midday meeting and I had to write something for work = I was in my pjs until about 5 p.m.  Even if I do not get dressed, I always dress Annabelle.  I just feel better when she is dressed for the day :).

She loves watching ESPN with daddy in the morning.

My dad came up to visit tonight, so I went for a run while he and AB hung out.  I am very lucky to have parents that are more than happy to spend some QT with their granddaughter.

It was a gorgeous night for a run.  I did 7 miles in a little under an hour.

I felt great while running, but once I got home and showered I started feeling some pain in my left inner thigh area.  I really hope that it’s nothing serious and that I can stretch it out in yoga tomorrow.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I picked up Subway for dinner and as I was walking out, I saw a man that looked exactly like Jared (the guy that lost all that weight eating Subway) walking in.  I really wanted to get a picture, but there was no way to take one without looking like a total creeper.

As promised, here are AB’s new shoes.  Raven’s colors = added bonus 🙂

I also bought her these for summer…the Carter’s outlet is my new favorite store.

What do you think?

Do you prefer to run/workout at a certain time of day?

Shopping – love it or dread it?

Lazy Wednesday

We didn’t get out of bed until around 10 this morning.  AB got up to eat around 7:45 and when she fell back asleep at 8:30, I decided that I would get back into bed too.  She was awake and ready to go around 10, so Chris and I gave her a bath and got her dressed.

iPhone Pics 22413 005

She just started to entertain the idea of the pacifier.  She only uses it when she is getting hungry and it isn’t time to eat again yet.  She definitely has a very healthy appetite!

Breakfast was oatmeal with honey and cinnamon and a chobani yogurt…boring but satisfying.

After breakfast, I went out for a walk/jog around the neighborhood.  The sun was shining and the temperature was in the 40s, but the wind was still blowing pretty hard and I was running into a head wind for much of the way.  I covered about 3 miles and jogged for more time than I walked.  I can’t wait for Saturday when I go on an actual run on the trail.  I have new workout gear from Old Navy to try out and I really  hope these babies get here in time…

PureFlow 2

Brooks PureFlow 2!  I have used Brooks in the past and this particular shoe is very highly rated by The Hungry Runner Girl.  She is a rockstar runner and maybe these will make me run as fast as she does :).

Since I really need to get to the grocery store, Chris picked up Subway for lunch.  I got a turkey and ham foot long with spinach and tomatoes and I had an apple on the side.  I only ate half of the sub and will eat the other half later.  Chris broke Jared’s rules and ate his entire foot long at one sitting.  I absolutely love the clothing in Athleta and I always look through the magazine and pick out what I will buy fantasize about.

Here is a picture of Annabelle just because.  She was totally hogging the tv remote…she thinks the Property Brothers on HGTV are cute.
